|Review:||ALPINA at MPH04 - Earls Court (18-21st November 2004)|
ALPINA UK attended the event with a single car, a black ALPINA B7. The car is the same one that appeared at Goodwood and looks seriously sexy in Black with Darkened glass windows. The interior is top notch and the car really looks the part and easily worth it's asking price.
That's before you look under the bonnet (which was up for most of the day). The engine compartment is extremely neat but there is no doubt the engine is big and it's got some help. The 4.4-litre is supercharged and produces 500bhp and 516lb ft. Please see here on FastSaloons.com for more performance statistics.
B5 & B6 News !!
A pre-production B5 will arrive in the UK in March 2005. ALPINA UK will start selling them in September.
The B6 will not arrive until the following year, there are some issues with space under the 6's bonnet.
No such worries for the B5. Power should not be down much from the B7. Nick has witnessed engines on the Block in Bulchoe (ALPINA factory) running upto 650bhp. He adds these will never reach production - but you never know.
The B5 will be limited to 203mph ! And that is only due to the speed-rating of it's tyres. So this will instantly catapult the B5 into being one of the fastest Saloons on the planet. It also means it will easily outgun the M5, not to mention the bigger B7 (which has a limit of around 193mph).
ALPINA UK have currently delivered 1 other B7 in the UK. The current demonstrator (No. 42) is up for sale right now and a replacement demonstrator will arrive in March. Three other B7s have been ordered. Making around 5 cars in the UK.
Prices start at £76,000 - the demo car at the show was c. £82,000 new. But as it has 12k miles it will probably be going on sale for c. £72k.
We will be road testing the B7 very soon.
Also at the Show
In addition to the ALPINA B7 There was also a normal BMW X3 sporting ALPINA dynamic wheels.
