ALPINA B7 Bi-Turbo
click for more photos
ALPINA once again attended the Festival of Speed. This year they were represented by their B7 Bi-Turbo. As part of the Sunday Times Supercar paddock.
The car was part of 'First Glance' the section of brand new, pre-production and concept cars.
Parked next to SL65 AMG Black label it held it's own and didn't feel out of place in the company of Veyrons, Ferraris and Lamborghinis.

The House and Car Sculpture

At first glance this years sculpture seemed a little simplistic but the Audi based display was very impressive towering above on sweeping metal tracks.
In fact the simple loop was very effective and it was easy to forget that there were real cars attached to it.

Supercar Paddock

Brimming with desirable metal the Sunday Times Supercar paddock every boy (and man's) dream cars.
My favorite ? Very difficult.. You can't help loving the Silver Zonda - but a bit too much in your face, The Ruf looked mean, The Zonda sounded awesome. The Alfa 8c is certainly a beautiful car in either coupe or cab guise. In terms of cars I'd be comfortable owning though I think the Nissan GTR wins. And obviously I'd not turn down the B7 !
Most suprising was how ordinary the Lamborghini's looked.

Supercars on the Hill

Most suprising on the hill was probably not a car at all - the electric motorbikes really mess with your head.
The Zonda was the noisiest.

GoodWood Rally Stage

I was determined to make it up to the rally stage this year and it was well worth the climb and the back jarring tractor ride.
Once its great to see the mix of motors from the relatively new Mcrae to the evocative Audi Quattro, and Lancia Stratos.

Manufacturer Displays

The Major Manufacturers certainly showed no signs of the credit crunch with Audi, Toyota, Nissan, Alfa Romeo, Mazda and Mercedes all having large motorshow like displays.
Hats off to Nissan for the most cost effective display - with a stand made from three large containers sprayed black.
Alfa Romeo went to town with a stylish Red building, not to mention the mot attractive girls.

Tucked away in the courtyard at the side of the house Dunlop had an area called Dunlop Live. And probably some
of the best looking classic cars including two gorgeous looking Alfas.

Cartier

The Cartier area is usually a good place to see obscure and rare motors. This year was no exception with some very earlier cars and some interesting concept cars.
As with most areas at Goodwood you could literally spend hours looking at the cars.

A few general shots including the Brawn F1 car.
The large screens meant you keep an eye on the hill from different parts of the site.

Red Arrows

The Red Arrows popped by for a quick dispay. I say quick it was at least 20 minutes and very impressive. Albeit I wasn't stood in the optimum places as some of the close passes were low down and hidden behind the trees.
It makes you proud to be British !
