Hi I thought I would introduce myself and my car.

I am the owner of an E12 Alpina B7s. I am hoping to post a record of the work I will be undertaking on my Alpina this winter.

Andy this is the car that was at NEC show 2017. 5 Series in blue correct? We discussed how you had struggled to find some parts to get it working?

Looks nice in the photo. Presume it works to some extent if that was taken in the wild.

Andy, you were a breath of fresh air, totally transparent about the car and which parts you could not find and replaced ( to get it working) with Ford engine parts (from memory)? I am not technically minded so have to leave it to you to elaborate on that statement?

If I recall our conversation I think you said your father bought it in the 1980's and it had sat for 20/25 years?

That fact you are bringing this rare beast to life is great. You might ask a chap called John Safe who owns BMW 67 about how he keeps his car which is the same ( I am fairly sure) going. He is a BMW Car Club member and they might forward an email for you ( in these days of data protection).

CaesarBob its in daily use in the summer and then I take it off the road in the winter to work on it.

Previous work has included.

Replacement of the Alpina Hartig ignition.
Rebuild brake calipers.
New brake hoses.
New rear wheel bearings.
New coolant hoses.
Rebuilt rear suspension including new diff oil cooler and hoses.
Replacement diff oil seals.
New fuel lines.
New clutch slave cylinder.
BMW fuel tank removed and resealed.
Cylinder head replaced after failure of a valve seat insert. :(
Rebuild of some of the Pierburg injection components.

This winters tasks are replacement of the Pierburg injection with a modern system and new diff bearings

Yes the car was purchased by my Father and Uncle in 1989. I think I met John Safe at Gaydon a couple of years ago. I think John said he purchased an E12 B7 from James Spencer-Churchill now 12th Duke of Marlborough and the first UK owner of my car. James Spencer-Churchill was waiting for my car a B7s to be delivered to replace the car John purchased.

I wondered where this Churchill car ended up. I test drove this car from a garage just North of Bath a very, very long time ago; I desperately wanted it but it was a stretch too far for my finances at the time and I bought a 635CSi instead.

Glad to hear it's in good hands.
That would have been one of the places owned by my Dad and my Uncle probably the Shoe Garage. Do you remember how much it was? It was sporadically up for sale for many years.
