Dear all,
Im a newbie who is possibly diving into the Alpina fold with a 2008 B3 coupe switchtronic with 119k miles on it.
A lot of insurers have difficulty finding such an Alpina BMW so I went straight to A plan, who came up trumps.
But what happens in case of a write off or even worse: the car gets stolen? I will be buying using finance, but it is difficult to gauge a market value for a car that is supposedly 1 of 50 RHD models? (Is that in the UK or Worldwide?)
Would Sytner or the alpina forum be able to provide a valuation, in the same way as e.g. Porsche Cars GB or Porsche Club GB does with classic/specialist cars?
Many thanks in advance for your responses!
Bert
Market valuation 2008 Alpina B3 E92 switcht, 119k miles
This is a question that gets asked fairly frequently and almost impossible to answer. The simple fact is the older cars are worth pretty much what someone is willing to give (with exception of the classics) and limited build numbers don't really equate to a higher value. Take our 1 of 5 B3 Touring for instance. To us it is worth about £15k. But realistically we would be lucky to see close to half that price. Very lucky.
When dealing with insurers you need to get an agreed value policy. Supply them with as much information on the car as you can. Also lots of photos of every single part of the car. Topside, underside, interior and engine bay. They have there own specialists who they can consult. You tell them how much you think it is worth and they will come back with an answer. They may agree with your valuation or they may not. Either way once they agree a figure with you then that is the figure they will use in the event of a claim. "Agreed valuation"
If you stay with that insurer, then make sure you provide fresh photos and any relevant new information on each renewal date. Even if they don't ask for it.
