Ghosts and Goblins, Witches and Werewolves and perhaps the most fearsome of all.. pre-pubescent kids dressed in all kinds of customes that are so readily available from your local 24-hour-trading bohemoth like 'Tescoworld' or 'ASDArama'
I sitting here in a darkened room with all the lights off hoping that none of these ghouls will sense my fear and discover that I am actually at home...
Unlike most nights I would be happy to arrive home relatively early, and yet tonight for some reason I had forgotten it was the only night in the year that I could have done with staying in the office for another few hours, rather than torment myself with this personal imprisonment of darkened rooms and selective doorbell deafness.
I know this sounds like the ghostly equivalent to scrooge and infact earlier in the day I had even thought about stopping by a local supermarche to pick up a load of sweets for the little terrors - but you know what - I just can't be arsed!!
And I know i'm not the only one thinking the same...
Yes sure I loved Halloween when I was a kid and I know I'm a parent too.. so I should really try and get into the 'spirit of things' (excuse the pun) but as she doesn't live with me I tend to not get so involved in the whole 'event' of the day.
I read today that the Police are on full alert to crack down on the vengeful little brats that don't leave the door with a handful of candy treats and instead pelt your cars or house with eggs or curry (or worse still) what is the world coming to?
Well I've had a quick look up and down my street (while the coast is clear) and there's no sign of the local undercover ghost squad so for me the choice is clear.
Curtains drawn, lights off.. and a bag full of sweets all to myself....
Trick or Treat.....
