My new to me daily 120i

Post by JohnW »

I picked up an E82 120i 1 series yesterday.

It has a new timing chain (chain is at the front on these under the oil cap  ) and clutch fitted with 90K on the clock so a bit of a find and hopefully last me a few years. It’s got a nice poke to it too with 168bhp but on 205 width runflats in the deluge of rain and flooded roads in NW England yesterday wasn’t able to test that too much. :D

Already fixing and modding:

1. 120i boot badge refitted.
2. Summer 17” m68 alloys refurbished ( these were on the M sport E46s and very lightweight) with Michelin Sport 5 ready to fit 215/45 and 245/45.
3. Winter Goodyear 17” ultragrips on now 205/50 and 225/45.
4. Interior deep valeted my myself and the pearl leather recoloured where needed.
5. Android Screen fitted with idrive style controller, CarPlay etc.
6. Front discs and pads, rear calipers and pads, oil and filter change.
7. Oil regulator valve next weekend.
8. NoxEm to fit and reset adaptions.
9. Full 2 stage machine polished paint and wax by myself.
10. Cabin and air filter.
11. New wheel bolts and centre caps.
12. Reversing camera.

Listing all this it’s surprising how much it mounts up.

That is very nice
I have a soft spot for that particular shape.
Watch out for valve stem oil seals on that particular engine. My old E91 320i suffered badly and smoked more than Bet Lynch
Enjoy your tinkering
