Bought a grey Nappa interior out of a 2001 M3 cabrio from Facebook - plan is to use the parts to retrofit lumbar support into my B3s seats and then use one seat as a slave when I get my driver's seat bolster repaired.

No idea what to do with the rest of it though...seems a waste just to skip it.

Lost my rag with stuck centre caps, again!!! Decided it was time to sort once and hopefully for all. A close examination indicated that they had been refurbished at some time and the caps were a little tight. Thus time to relieve the aperture and remove the paint or whatever had been used. In the lathe to both hold and give a low speed rotation whilst getting the Dremel to work. The constant rotation giving some protection to being over zealous when cleaning off the finish.

At least now they are a loose fit and and some stage in the near future will use a PTFE spray coat on the aperture to resist sticking.

Cheers
Dave

After a mild alarm of light smoke in the cabin a couple of days back with the a/c on max, I got my mechanic round for a bit of diagnosis.

So I am now £400 lighter and had to replace the a/c blower motor (this had burned out) and the blower relay changed at same time.

Would not have been fun driving up to the lakes from darn sarf, with out even a fan working!

Quite alarming that mate! Well worth the repair though- my wifes 1 series has a knackered condenser at the minute and its literally hell in this weather! Enjoy the lakes, i love it there but i fear some of the narrower roads might not be very 20" classic friendly...

Quicker than a Kia something or other with a loud exhaust on the sliproad onto the M18 north at Thorne!

Quite solid to be fair- feels more stable than the E61, but think i may have to adjust the trailer hitch height.
The ball on the car is quite high (the car is bigger and higher than E61 exaggerated more so with the 20's) so i think i might have to adjust so i dont run the risk of too much nose weight. All good though :D

We head to the lakes each year, usually in the Oct half term, but this year we took what we could get for a staycation. The roads have been fine for me so far, but I did get caught out with a rock in one of the car parks on the front spoiler, that has just been repaired, grrr.

Where were you running the Escort, love a track day!

Its the stuff like Wrynose and Hardknott passes- i've had almost every car i've owned over there and had a double blowout in my old E46 330d a good few years back haha! I also had a very unimpressed wife as you can imagine
Dont know if i'd risk the F11 over it, theyre a big lump for tight triple singletrack switchbacks!
Great part of the world though- we also try to get there once a year at least, i love it.

Car was out at Blyton park in Lincolshire on a kind of private test day just to run a new bottom end in. Covered 150 track miles and all good for the dyno next week to set some new injectors up. Be up for some trackdays and Time Attack events after that...

Booked it in for its very first detailing after a few thousand miles and with a start up detailer so we will see how it goes.

I rode my old Triumph T595 over those two passes with the missus on pillion, that was fun!

I took the D5 over them last October, it was fine, I get more sweats on some of the tight approach roads when there are oncoming cars/vans!

I actually drove mine, after 7 months parked up. . . Only up to the local garage for some work, at the end of the road, but hey I'm back on the road. (See DVLA very slow post for more info).
Getting cleaned up ready for the Classic now.
