Too many cars?
Too many cars?
So the garage will get a little overcrowded in 10 days tie with the arrival of another car, which means to be honest I may have to move on either my Mk1 Focus RS or the Alpina B3 3.3
I know what the market is like for the Focus - but not really paid any attention to the market for the Alpina.
Can anyone advise or offer up some pearls of wisdom so I can make a decision as to which one finds a new loving owner?

Looking at your garage I'd say if you are after collectability then keep the RS, I doubt any Alpina will ever give the same return, if it is about enjoyment then only you can decide that as it is very personal. Also depends what the new arrival is too
I sold my Concours MK2 RS2000, which I owned for 23 years, a number of years ago before the huge price rises of recent years, but it was not a great car to drive as it was massively tuned, had 172 rwhp running 48's and a lairy cam, I don't regret selling it, bought my TVR the day afterwards which drives much better for today's traffic even though it is now turbocharged, and the B6s is even better, don't get enough time to use them really.
Good luck with your decision

RS200?...if only....in my dreams, now worth a small fortune specially in Evo guise. I remember the Collins MS one go past me like I was standing still at Pembrey, spitting flames being chased by the Bailey MS Cossie powered RS2000 in the 90's. 600hp vs 500hp awesome.Chas wrote:
The RS200 sounds epic though
And I agree that some Alpinas are destined for stardom amongst collectors, the real problem is that the potential number of purchasers are probably less than more mainstream icons. Have the original B6s E30 values matched E30 M3 values?

The RS200 is an amazing car, but awful to drive unless you're dancing it along a rally stage.
The Bailey RS2000 battles at Donington were always awesome to watch, remember watching Paul Bailey & Steve Scott doing battle many a time.
Whilst I'd love to keep them all Simon, realistically it's the E46 that wouldn't get driven which is a shame as it's a superb car, fully loaded and the buffalo hide with Alpina blue & green piping looks stunning in the car. There's a couple of bits i'd prefer to do before selling, the rear lip on the boot needs respraying as it's got more stone chips than the front bumper oddly (how that could ever happen is beyond me but hey).

I am just about to put my X5 up for sale and am looking at a second Alpina so if the timing is right perhaps we could have a chat?Paulb wrote:The RS200 is an amazing car, but awful to drive unless you're dancing it along a rally stage.
