Post by Cygnet » Mon Mar 12, 2018 7:16 pm

I spotted this in my garage today. I'm sure it wasn't there last week!

Yes, PhillV8S, its Mora. Not everybody's cup of tea, I know, but I love it. I haven't found any evidence of another B3s in Mora in this country so perhaps I'm in the minority, but it just makes it more special for me.

rare but not that rare ..... B3S - #059 Mora Metallic was mine but seems to have disappeared since I sold it. I think that one and the cab mentioned were almost paired with my saloon but it never happened. I suspect it has champagne piped with purple interior.

Yes, Ken, it does have the piped champagne trim as you say. As far as I can see, the cabriolet has the same. As you say, M33OKM seems to have dropped off the radar. At least from the DVLA's.

I thought that it may have reverted to FJ53VPW but that is not known also. At various times it was also CU 15 (which is now a Range Rover) and VDN 25 also not known. I sometimes wish I had kept it but if I tot up the subsequent miles it would be over 260k by now ... more than enough B3S miles for anyone but Charles :D

There is one thing I'd change on this car
On the sale pics the previous owner had stuck an Alpina floor mat silver elblem on the cover above the ashtray it needs to go 😜

Hap, putting my “technically” hat on, a previous owner stuck the metal Alpina owners book pack emblem on to the oddments tray lid (not me I might add) and although I wanted to restore the badge to its rightful place, I feared what might lurk underneath the delicate rubberised lid surface. Needless to say, I left it where it was. The book pack badge space was replaced with a poorly cut down BMW emblem, but I am pretty sure Cygnet will sort the issue now he is the very lucky owner of the best car I have been fortunate enough to experience.

You're right Hap, it needs to go. Medallion Man was seventies wasn't it? I'm on the case, BMW part number 51168202188 for new insert and cover. Then I'll try and get the disc back on the Alpina wallet so all is as it should be. David's correct, there is no chance of getting it off without damage, we all know how easily that finish can get marked. This car is in such good condition that it can't be anything other than as it was originally made.

Yes David, it is beautiful and if we ever get some decent weather I might get to drive it again! We drove through some very wet weather getiing it home from yours so I'm spending time in the garage getting it cleaned up.
