Bluetooth dilemma

Post by TerryW » Mon Jan 25, 2016 8:54 am

I have a strange Bluetooth problem, which hopefully someone can throw some light on.
When I connect my mobile phone to the system everything is fine for 2 minutes, then the idrive shuts down and restarts. It will be fine for another 2 minutes, and then repeat the process. It does this 5 times, after which it removes my phone from the list of connected devices, and loses memorised radio stations etc.
Now, here is the real mystery. My wife has exactly the same phone, and hers works perfectly (Xperia Z2). Mine works fine in all other cars, and at the weekend I upgraded to a Xperia Z5, and guess what, it does the same thing (although all settings from the Z2 were transferred over to the new phone.
Anyone else seen this, and have a solution?

Thanks,
Terry

Sounds like a you had a setting in your Z2 which is causing the problem and this has now been transferred to the Z5 - hence the continuing problems.

As for what that setting is, I'm afraid I haven't got a clue but it might be worth going through both your own and your wife's phones side by side to identify what's the same and what's different. A slow process but worth it.

As a starting point, I would look at Bluetooth and any other communication settings.

Thanks Charles.
I cannot see anything different, but what makes it worse is my phone works perfectly in our other BMW, and works sometimes in the Alpina.
Hopefully I will get to the bottom of it one day.

Try removing both phones from the car and then re-install your phone only.

If it works tell her to get another phone;-)
