Congratulations for your choice Paulb! Excellent!
Is it with the 4-wheel drive system, or is this only still for the LHD cars?

I find that Nothing goes smoothly now a days.

After many many discussions over the colour, visiting several dealerships, seeing cars in the flesh, colour pallets and emailing Matt, we opted for the Havana exterior colour.

Now after signing on the dotted line, paying the deposit, 8 days later i'm told that Havana is now going to cost an additional £5.5k extra as BMW have decided to discontinue the colour! Grrrrrrrrr

So back to the drawing board :(

Hmm, I'm not a contract lawyer, but I would have thought that you have a contract for a car in Havana at the price you and the dealer agreed. Might be worth pressing that point.

When you posted your spec for your car, I saw that it wasn't on the BMW/ALPINA configurator so was surprised that you could order it without it being special order.

You might also want to check that you can get Oyster Dakota leather with black lower dash (the footwell is black but the lower dash is oyster)? On the configurator, you can get Saddle Brown with black lower dash, or Merino leather allows black lower dash, but not Oyster.

Jatoba is a similar shade, or Citrine Black?

Hi Simon,

There was already a charge for the Havana as it wasn't a standard Alpina colour but was on the BMW metallic list at the time but has now been withdrawn (despite the LCI press cars all being in Havana paint! - go figure!). It's the extra on top that I object to!

On the Sytner configurator (different to the customer facing one) the Oyster with black lower dash, carpets etc is a different code - the said in a nutshell that if it's a standard Alpina colour seat fabric, the rest can be pretty much as you want it as they have codes for all different configurations.

I'll see what the Mrs says when she gets back from Munich although she was less impressed than I was.

Jatoba is a cr@p colour both in look and similarities! Someone likened it to the ability to actually being able polish a turd now!
Citrine Black is quite nice although if I HAVE to pay for a colour that isn't onspec, then it's going to be something like Ruby Red, I might as well go rare as rather than join the never ending line of Black, White & Grey cars on our roads now a days! (no offence if you have a Black / White or Grey car - i've got two black ones at the min!)

I saw a Mediterranean Blue F30 today brand new and I though it looked really good - As a metallic non costed option this would be a great colour blue if anyone was thinking about an alternative to Tanzanite Blue or Alpina Blue which are an extra £1590 etc.

Isn't Mediterranean Blue BMW's replacement for the very ill fated Dark Blue known affectionately as "Doom Blue"?

I agree, it looks great, although I can't help thinking that it would make a car very difficult to resell

I'm not a lover of green cars tbh. As for resale, i'm considering keeping the car for best part of a decade so resale value down that road isn't going to be an issue between colours.
