Alloy wheel carriage

Hi guys,
I am after a little bit of advice. The wheels on the D3 really need a refurb, well they actually don't but I want them pristine.
The dilemma that i have is that i commute in the car and I don't have access to any other transport etc. So i was going to take the car off the road for a week or so whilst they are away getting refurbished.
I have been in touch with Naomi at http://www.platinumwheelrefurb.com for a quote etc.
I have had an email back and i am totally happy BUT they have informed me that they do not recommend using a courier to get them back to me due to some folks getting damaged paintwork etc.
I am sort of stuck now as to drive down to Swindon and train it back on delivery and collection of the car will be a right royal pain. I also need to send the wheels away with the tyres on. If i go to a garage here to have the tyres removed i wont be able to drive it.
I was wondering if anyone can recommend a courier service that WONT damage the wheels. I will be shipping them with the tyres on as they are brand new and only just fitted.
Any help appreciated.

It's always a risk, accidents happen. All you could realistically do is cocoon the wheels in bubble wrap and hope for the best.

Is there anyone in your area with a set of appropriate winter wheels that would allow you to borrow them for the period?

I think you'll find even the couriers who 'specialise' in couriering wheels just subcontract the work out to one of the better known companies.

I've sent a couple of individual wheels to PAW over the last year or two and been lucky to get the wheel back in perfect condition.

Hi Charles. I will look into that option but I can honestly say I don't think I will have much luck. Pitty as it would be a good solution. Thinking now......

I will speak to Naomi again to see what they think. Maybe there will be less risk with the tyres on as they should give a bit of extra protection??

From your comments you seem to be within driving distance of Swindon so you could courier the wheels to Swindon and borrow/hire a small van for a half day to pick them up

Now that is a very good idea

. Think i may just hire a car for a few days and get the wheels sent down by courier and then pick them up in the hire car when ready

I had a wheel with tyre couriered to me from Platinum recently - well packed, no damage.

APC Â£30 for a set of wheels and tyres next day delivery mainland UK.
Getting a set of E30 wheels tomorrow from southend on sea to edinburgh
