Introduction - just bought a B10 3.3

Post by CharlesM » Fri Mar 01, 2013 8:05 pm

Just saying hello and introducing myself. I have just bought a one owner Silver B10 3.3 saloon from 2002. I have not owned an Alpina before, but have had several BMWs, my last of which, a 2002 tii from 1972 had an Alpina cam cover!

I am a bit of a petrolhead, with an Allard, a Citroen SM, a Range Rover Classic and a merc for daily driving, but wanted a sports saloon with discretion, a stunning straight six and a brilliant ride, all of which the B10 delivers and more.

I'll be picking it up next week, so will let you know more then. I found this forum a very useful source of information, and I am keen to participate. I live in South Bucks, which seems to have a few owners for some reason!

Hi Charles and welcome :D

Sounds like an interesting garage and the B10 will fit in well with it.

You are well placed for technical assistance if you ever need it, with CPC Engineering at Amersham - but hopefully that will be few and far between.

Once you have the car, pictures on here are de rigeur - and if you can provide the plaque number then we can add it to the Register in due course.

Welcome to the forum Charles, pics are of course mandatory

Hopefully won't be long until we end up with some decent weather so you can put a few miles on the clock :)

I shall definitely do some photos then! Thanks for the welcome.

Good to hear about CPC Engineering, I also have Birds not far away, but it sounds like the former for Alpina work.

Welcome! Is it the manual facelift? Looks like it could easily be returned to a very high standard. If you are visiting CPC let me know I am 1 mile away with a silver touring B10.

You will now get spammed until photos appear :D

It is indeed manual facelift, the dealer photos actually don't do it justice, which they have just taken down, otherwise I'd link them, if only to buy myself some time!

Having had two good checkovers, the only thing needing attention is the radio lcd matrix, which I'll have done at the same time as fitting an iphone/ipod connection. The wheels are perfect, bodywork just needs a good clean and polish. The engine manifold could do with a touch up, but I'm more interested in the driving experience than the worry about a bit of flaked off paint.

Right, most important job this morning, clear the garage so I can park it inside when it arrives! This requires me to confront my abject failure to put up the garden shed.

Charles congratuation for the new purchase and love to see other titan silver B10 3.3 manual around (5 altogether according to my old memory, 1 wrote off). You won't be diasppointed and that is why I got mine for the last 9 years. 0-60mph around 6s, top 175mph at 6500rpm 5th gear, around 26-27mpg or 430-480miles for a tank of super unlead. Be warned the car can go over 7000rpm or 110mph on 3rd gear without engine cut off.
Wonder what is the built no? Is it 192 and what is the specification? If you have any question about the B10 3.3 just ask. Hope that will do with 135k experience with it. Enjoy every miles and trip.

I don't have the build number alas - it was on the dealer website photos but they took those down. I'll post it on Tuesday when I pick it up.

Welcome to Alpina ownership and the forum we need some pictures though.

CPC is indeed a good place to have work done on your Alpina they really know about the cars.
