Thanks all - getting ready to attack both cars with buckets, sponges and hose later on!
PerryGunn wrote:Congratulations, I'm pleased that she was in the condition that you were led to believe

Did you let Liz drive her or did you hog the drive home
She was probably better than expected, with the exceptions being an area of 'flat paint' on the N/S/F splitter (I'll have a go at that, but if unsuccsessful put it into my trusted paint shop) and the mixed rear tyres :? which I'm in-process of sorting out. I knew she was on Pirellis, and in all honesty they were fine even at the limit, and none too noisy or harsh. So, I will have some decent 'emergency spare' rubber

The interior is near-mint, a concern with the pale Lavalina, but there is just a bit of discoloration/dirt on the drivers door pull Lavalina, but that will come out easily enough. The rear seat back ALPINA roundels still have the protective covers on them, and the seats look unused

Liz had a longer test drive than I, but I drove all the way home. I did offer Liz a section of the drive as we split it into 3 with a couple of coffee/loo stops, but she wanted to 're-aquaint herself' with #168: and guess what? She doesn't want to sell her, now  Liz will do a long section of the run from Swindon through the A40 next week to get a better feel for #285.

So did we, and amazingly we got one! 8) Just shows what can happen if you make a plan :D That's a cool video

BTW, to all who contacted me during the past few days: apologies for the poor response. My 'smartphone' became very 'unsmart' as it bricked itself on Friday morning...so I was trying to respond to you on a really crappy old Samsung loan phone with no user instructions and a text/messaging system I cannot get my head around! :o

Wow how patronising, good luck with the car. I hope Autocar didn't mis-treat it too much.

Really? I think you read to much into it, perhaps as it suits you to. We made a plan: it succeeded....and here we are. Patronising we don't do; nor chippyness. Just treat everyone as one would wish to be treated oneself: if one can't, keep out is my motto and if one hasn't anything good to say, don't.

They didn't, so no worries.

Such a nice car - I'm envious :)

I remember when the B3S came out and with the bump in horsepower to 400 and basically faster than an M3 in the real world.
I made a special trip to Sytner just to see it :drool

Congrats on the purchase

Congrats on the new steed.

How do the seats compare against the D3? Any better?
