New to the fold B3SBiturbo - now pic-heavy!
So, today we did the deal and picked up our new ALPINA: E92 B3S Biturbo #285. This was the 1st registered UK demo car, and was specced very nicely by Matt (thanks, Matt!) and made an appearance in Autocar as their test car.
Sapphire black paintwork, new classics (turbines) with black dakota leather with the central panels and arm rests in Birch Lavalina, seatback roundels, piano black trim with gold insignia and optioned to the hilt!
Been a long journey to go and get her and she's a touch grubby right now (though nowhere near as downright FILTHY as #168 is right now following her return 520mile journey in all weathers). I'll get a few pics up when I get the opportunity, but suffice to say she is a lovely example, and has been very well looked after and just needs taking to the next level again, so a few tasks to be undertaken.
It's been interesting driving her home on a mix of motorway, dual carriageway, fast A roads and Welsh mountain roads. Good chance to make comparisons ..... more later

Let's just say 'interesting' at the moment. It helped stepping out of the RS straight into the B3S as performance was 'similar' and 'spirited' and the quality of the B3S really did stand out. There's a bit more to it, though, and I really want to get a few miles on her (the return trip to Swindon next Friday will help) before I really put a marker down. Also, need to change the tyres...there is a mix of 3 Pirelli PZero's and a PS2 on her...she'll be back on 4 Miches very soonjamesa wrote:Look forward to the feedback / comparison ...

Congratulations on the purchase of B3s BT ade and liz flint
I would also be interested to read what you think of the B3s, especially as you previously had a D3 BiTurbo.
I have had mine other three year's now and I still love the car, it brings a smile to my face every time I drive it.

It is a very interesting comparison, but as said before, want to be certain before comments are made. First impressions are that it is a lovely car, though: of that there is no doubt!Estoril Sport wrote:I would also be interested to read what you think of the B3s, especially as you previously had a D3 BiTurbo.
Plans already formulating, Roy, starting with a wash and brush-up tomorrow and an order for some decent tyres164 coupe wrote:I'm sure you will soon have #285 just how you want her.

I think another 95bhp is more than a bitade and liz flint wrote:

Congratulations on your new beast.
Having owned both I would say they are chalk and cheese, both brilliant in their own way
Don't think you can really compare a NA 6 pot manual with a BT six pot auto.
Whilst I really loved the Roadster, the B3s BT is an altogether better package.
For me it has stunning performance (which you need an autobahn to exploit) great comfort, striking looks, superb handling, excellent economy and rarity, in other words an Alpina
Look forward to hearing your thoughts after you have a few more miles under your belt.

It's actually more a 3-way comparison, as as it stands I can see merits and drawbacks of all 3 ALPINA's we owned in the past week However, I need to keep powder dry on the new boy until I've driven more than 270 miles
