G30 B5 with mixed tyres

Post by B10BRW » Tue Jan 23, 2024 2:36 pm

There is a 2018 allrad G30 B5 for sale on auto trader at Evolution in Neston Cheshire.
Looks very nice, but the thing that would concern me is that it has different tyres on front and rear, Michelins on front Pirelli P Zero on rear.
Whilst not illegal, it is much better to have the same brand of tyres all round especially on AWD.

Lovely car. Yes, it does seem odd to have mismatched tyres especially on a car as special as this. I suspect that the owner or garage just put what they could find on it.
Barter them down a couple of hundred and factor in a fresh set of Michelin Pilot 4 or 5.
Let us know how you get on.

Just to add the registration number comes back as a un mot'd M3. Ask them for the current registration and you might be able to check when the tyres were repalced.

Yes I had noticed the MOT details, also it has had 4 owners already, makes you wonder what else is not as it should be.
Would want to knock them down by more than a couple of hundred, overpriced in my view.

Too new to appreciate, could have bought " Clarkson's" B5 a while back for considerably less, still regretting not doing so :doh :?

I put a deposit down on this car in Dec 2022 when it was being sold by Sytner Nottingham. The previous owner fitted a set of Michelins to the car, but as part of the AUC prep 2 new rear tyres were fitted, and Sytner fitted the factory spec Pirellis, hence the car having a mis-match front and rear. I flagged this to them when I went to see it, but they weren't prepared to replace the fronts to match.

It's a nice car, good spec. Remember seeing appear for the first time at Top 555 cars with v low miles and suitably high price. It's got the standard nappa interior, so means it's not "full" leather, although the car has a leather dash top as an option.

I dropped out of it as the B5 Touring I have now came in 4 days later to Sytner :D

Anyone surprised Sytner happy to sell a B5 with a brace of Michelins and a brace of Alp Pirelli….? Sums them up perfectly.
James (Evolution) bought my D5S #250, couldn’t have been nicer to sell my car to and I would very happily buy a car from him.
