E91 D3 BiTurbo #300 (Unicorn)

Post by Bob » Sun Mar 28, 2021 10:30 pm

Looks like this is actually one of the rare Bespoke Order cars rather than a LUX, certainly the only Touring I've come across so far.

From the LUX pack, it has Pro-Nav & Climate, but doesn't have High-Gloss Black trim. In addition it has electric memory seats, rains sensor with auto-headlights and rear door roller blinds.

It was at BCA Blackbushe for a couple of sales in late Jan/early Feb. They had it at Grade 4 (1 = Best, 5 = Worst) with an initial suggestion it was a CAT C/D, but a friend ran it through Cazana and nothing came back so looks to've been an error on BCA's part (not uncommon). CAP Average was £7,650.

Other than that, only sighting has been by Ashok a year or so back.

Good spot, is that the circular switch? The rocker one at the front is the bolsters, right?

Looks lovely but are those the original spec wheels for an E9x D3 BiTurbo?

They look like the ones fitted to the F series - but I may be wrong

C10's were an option on the later E9x D3 BT's. They became available from c2010 (hence the code).

Correct, and the “backrest width” is standard on M sport seats since E90’s

Lumbar support back then was £235 & electric seats were £910. Auto lights and wipers were £95. I can’t see what pro nav was off my build sheet as it’s bundled with the Lux pack but I would suspect it’s around £1200. Seems like it had around 4-5k extra including the bespoke order charge.

Do we know how many bespoke orders are about in the UK? I know of one other saloon in white and a coupe but surely there must be a few more?

Why didn’t the buyer specify xenon headlamps over halogens, especially if they ordered automatic headlights? It was one of my bug bears with #373 D3 I had so I retrofitted LED headlights with Philips H7 LED lamps.

Pro nav is the wider screen Professional CIC navigation.

Presuming the white 'loon is the infamous #031, and the coupe #156?

These are the cars I know of which have options that it seems unlikely could've been dealer/retro-fitted such as cruise, pdc, sliding armrest, leather when the build spec says standard cloth/leather etc.
Also, the ALPINA Green E90 D3 #439 isn't strictly a Bespoke Order as it was test car chosen by ALPINA to be the guinea pig for the new shade of ALPINA Green II.
Ok then.. another little snippet from Geneva which might be of interest to those of you teetering on the edge of buying a D3 saloon.

As you probably know ALPINA have just launched the new ALPINA Green colour at the recent Geneva motor show and trust me this is a great looking colour - with alot of depth...

Well in the process of developing this colour they needed to paint an example of every car ALPINA wanted to offer the colour in.. to make sure they could get the finish right (as every colour will behave differently on different body panels...)

So that's a B7, B6 Cab and Coupe B5 Saloon and Touring and D3 Saloon and Touring all that had to be painted in the ALPINA Green II as a test.

Well for some reason the very nice people at ALPINA & BMW decided it would be a bit novel if the D3 saloon they used was a RHD chassis.

Could be #31, I’ve only ever seen one photo from the front when the car was at ace cafe.

Thanks for that breakdown Bob, much appreciated. Don’t the facelift coupe’s have leather as standard? Strangely remember reading something around the time.

#031 has been crashed at least twice in the NSF corner and both times it was not put through insurance so no CAT marker. Looks like it has now been reshelled (engine and leather interior) into an M Sport 335d ‘loon.

Apologies, I must've been mis-informed, I had heard the car pictured was apparently #031 and assumed it had been reshelled. #031 was certainly looking sad last time it was offered for sale.
