Another 3.2 for sale, this time one of the saloons. Originally there were supposed to be 4 UK cars but I've only ever seen 3 of them and one of those is now in New Zealand.
I'd say it's priced very high, especially without OE suspension or front splitter, but I guess the upcoming auctions for the Coupe and two Cabrios will be a good guide.

Re: E36 B3 3.2 #067
Nice car, but I think I will keep the M3 as at half the price it’s much better value.
Is that awful additional gauge cluster an alpina option?

Yep, it was standard fit on the Switch-tronic cars as it has a gear display as well as oil pressure/temp and diff temp.
Last one I saw on eBay.de went for over €1.5k

I would like to think that this gives me an idea of what my car could be worth in a few years. £25k for this seems optimistic, but possible if the right buyer is in the room at the right time.
I would be interested to learn about what this does sell for.

Personally Rav, I think it will be a long time until these are actually selling at this sort of price point. I'd love to think #062 is worth this sort of money but in reality ... mid teens feels more realistic when they have all the correct parts and condition is spot on.
E46 B3S #237 didn't find a buyer last year, it started at £25k dropping as far as £22k with 40k miles and although it had a lot of eBay ALPINA stickers, it did look in excellent condition.

Re: E36 B3 3.2 #067
I think it’s a hard question to answer with the E36.
From general experience of modern classics, there seems to be an upward trend between 20 and 30 years after popularity depending on following. This seems logical as it’s the midlife crisis of wanting to relive youth and buy a car from you past.
The E30 collectibles (M,sport and 318is) went stratospheric at different times with a lag dependant on desirability.
With the e36 it’s a slower burn and prices are rising slowly and steadily, but I don’t see the same pace as the E30. M3 is top of the chart especially lightweight and GT, but the rest are following. The alpina and acs brands aren’t as well known so I would not expect them to make more than equivalent m3 at this point.
The e46 has a much greater following and the rise for “good” ones has already gone.
Funny if you look at ads that you can buy e36, 46 and 90 models all for the same money, as each drops and rises again.

Re: E36 B3 3.2 #067
When it comes to the E46 Alpina's, I would beg to differ. Their prices are slowly but steadily rising and a good B3S is sitting around the £12-15k mark, depending on variant.

Re: E36 B3 3.2 #067
Sorry Charles I was being generic with a focus on the m3, lots more around to look at trends. The CSL is now big money 60-70, and the next low volume CS are following now after a few years just above the norm, now upwards of 20 along with low mileage quality std cars. I have also now noticed that club sport cars are steadily climbing.
I would therefore agree that quality alpina are still sub 20 by a margin, however low mileage cars seem to be rarer as alpina than M3, so you would expect a premium.I would also suggest that the e36 and e46 are currently in the same value range, where you would expect the e36 to be higher due to its age, but the e46 seems to be better loved.
I hope that one day the e36 goes stratospheric, one of the reasons I have one.

The Collecting Cars auction isn't quite going to plan, slightly worrying result to be honest.

Re: E36 B3 3.2 #067
This is another simple case of the owners (us?) putting an inflated value on 'our' cars that doesn't quite match the current market.
I'm seeing a really good e36 M3 making similar amounts to an exceptional e36 B3, just because the B3 is rare in comparison doesn't equate to some stupid figures being banded about.
