Nice pick up, congrats.

I’m a big fan of Tanzanite, it’ll look especially lovely when the sun is out. I hope you enjoy cleaning though :D

A bit of both hopefully. I'd been looking for a 140i as you know but couldn't bring myself to pay the prices currently being asked. I don't want this to just sit and gather dust, so I'm hoping my wife can use it a bit. She's never driven an auto though so we need to have a practice.

I wasn't really supposed to be spending this much on a second car, so I could swap her 1 Series as well, but I've ended up going all in. Hopefully it will work out OK and we can all enjoy it.

Thanks Jason! I must admit I’ve not used it too much yet as the weather has been pretty foul and we’ve been busy over Christmas. I’m looking forward to starting to stretch its legs a bit soon though, I’ll post some photos when it’s out and about.

I got the B4 back today after a couple of weeks spent with Sytner Sheffield. The brakes that were due to be replaced since collection had finally arrived, but there were also a few handling inconsistencies that I wanted them to address. It turned out the alignment needed attention and also one of the rear tyres was at fault. With everything set up correctly and new tyres it feels totally dialed now - as it should be. I've only done a few miles over the weekend but it's immediately better. I'm really pleased - it's a cracking car.

They loaned me an M440i convertible while it was away which made a really interesting comparison. It's surprising how much more focused the Alpina feels - the gear change is much quicker in manual mode, throttle response and pick up much sharper and the brakes are night and day better in both feel and power. The M440i rode better than I expected but it didn't quite have the Alpina magic - needless to say, I'm happy to get the B4 back!

Glad you had a decent Sytner experience Paul!

Guess they couldnt try to fleece you for an alignment set up since it was in for one anyway

You did well to get a courtesy out of them too, good stuff!

Thanks Marc. It took a while to get the right result, the first time I got the car back I sent it straight back to them as the issues weren't resolved. They also started talking about charges for the alignment - I was like, hang on a minute. But all's well that ends well, they got it sorted which is what matters.
