e60 B5 #153
Re: e60 B5 #153
I would say if that is on its original charger then more than likely it will be due to fail sooner rather than later. But the costs are reduced due to the refurb option as Cook highlights. Still a worthy negotiating point though if anyone wanted to pursue a purchase.

Interesting info on the superchargers - thanks guys. As you say, around £2K for a refurb isn't the end of the world. I'd imagine going to a BMW dealer and asking for a new one might be a different story though. This car certainly looks one that is worth investing in through.

If it had a nice contrasting interior I would covet it more but then some prefer a black/black combo.

The owner of the dealership seems like a nice enough chap. However, not sure I like how he has been fluctuating the price so much especially when he has the likes of us monitoring the product!

Evening all. I saw this post and have also been following that car. The advertised price went from 16,950 to 14,950 to 22,950 in two days. Perhaps it is a sales tactic?
Re: e60 B5 #153
I’d say so, it’s back to £15k again now

Re: e60 B5 #153
Hi All
I thought it might be worth updating this thread, as I purchased the car back in June 2021.
Upon test drive everything was great with the car. If it hadn’t have been, I’d likely have walked away. However, the first long drive I took with the car revealed an issue with the iDrive system; music from all sources was skipping regularly, especially in hot weather.
I diagnosed the issue and found it be caused by a faulty MULF unit. Instead of simply replacing this, I decided to pay a specialist to replace and upgrade the entire iDrive system using genuine BMW parts from an e60 LCI. This hardware change (CCC to CIC) means the car now benefits from a higher definition screen, faster software with clearer menus, full Bluetooth audio connectivity and the HD-based navigation with the latest map update. The climate control was also updated with an LCI switch panel and custom coding to suit.
I used the car for a month last summer before putting it into dry storage whilst I travelled around Spain and then Mexico. I’m going home next week and to say I’m excited to have her cleaned, inspected and made ready to drive is an understatement. I’m definitely not looking forward to the first refill of the tank though. Current prices of 99ron fuel are nothing short of ridiculous!
