E39 B10 3.3 #147 (Japan Red)

Post by Bob » Wed Nov 20, 2019 7:06 pm

I thought this one had been discussed before as it's been for sale forever, but I can find anything. It appeared up in Scotland recently at a Nissan dealer for £6k more than it was previously.

Does anyone know any history, it's been languishing in dealer for 3yrs or more now and has covered >2k miles in 4years. I think one of the dealers went bust maybe? Shame really as it's the only B10 3.3 in Japan Red.

I spotted that ad has reappeared today. Very confusing when the other ad is still live too.

You’re doing well these days if you can find an E39 that doesn’t need/hasn’t had at least some welding on the sills and jacking points

Seen this today whilst out looking at cars. It was at the Mercedes garage in Edinburgh as the Nissan dealer is part of the Eastern Western group. One of the sales staff said they have been trying to sell it for ages and had no luck so they are moving it to their Coldstream branch to try and sell it.

It looked very tidy and a stunning red.

It is a real shame this has been languishing on various forecourts for close to 4yrs that I know of. The reality seems to be there's just no appetite for a B10 3.3's at over £10k. The last few that've been auctioned haven't seen bids over £8-8.5k and that was on cars with less miles.

Oh FFS, here we go again! Just a modest 140% increase on the last Retail advert. :doh

After Pete's post that this was in Wilsons Auction up in Newcastle, it's now surfaced at a dealer in Bedford area.

Absolute madness, looks like this one is destined to become the Alpina for sale the longest.
I seem to remember it was first for sale about 6 years ago at £9995, should really fly off the shelf at over 24K :wall2

I can not understand why Red Alpinas seem difficult to sell :? , I love em

This is one of the most entertaining things about following Alpinas - the crazy second hand market, with cars moving between dealers after years for sale and then being hiked in price. That green E36 B2.5 is another great example - bought at auction for around £3K and then whacked up at £16K. Got to love it.

I first logged #147 back in Jul-17 when it was up at £9k with a dealer in Lichfield who held it at that price until until Nov-19. It then moved to the Nissan dealer in Stirling later in Nov-19, they started it at £15k with price drops as far as £10k in Apr-21, where it stayed until a bounce back to £10.5k in Jul-21. They threw the towel in in Nov-21 when it appeared at Wilson's auction and now this dealer has picked up the baton with an opening £25k.

Curiously, a while back JASV8S sent me a spreadsheet he made when looking for his B10 and #147 was on there as of Mar-12. Advertised at £9k/120k and his note said "Bit exp. for a 3.3; Been up for sale a while"

Just had a friend in the know check and the last official keeper disposed of #147 in Sep-16 so it looks like it has been for sale since then at a guess!

Unbelievable really. Do we know what it went for at Wilson's auction? Are the new dealer trying to triple their money?! :wall2

Sadly not, but if they paid more than £10k they're probably going to struggle to see a profit.
