VIN on the V5 registration for this one is #210 and on the build records Kees has for the Archive, #201 is a Japanese LHD variant.

It’s not uncommon for the wrong build plaque to be installed when it’s new. I’ve come across a couple in the UK: an E46 B3S Cabrio and a G31 B5 BiTurbo and Kees had seen a few others over the years.

Kees also told me there aren’t many RHD B6S’ and none of them where originally built in this colour combo, so it seems unlikely it hasn’t had a colour change.

Do you think Buchloe would replace it for the correct one FOC?

Going off Buchloe’s build data, there weren’t any RHD B6S’ in this colour combo from the factory, so it appears so.

So just to clarify ...

This is definitely #201(as evidenced by the plaque) ...

And it was originally a white Japanese market car (as recorded in the Archive against that plaque number)...

That has been resprayed and imported to the UK - not necessarily in that order (as stated by Bob!) ...

Not necessarily, it seems it maybe #210 with a typo for a plaque as it seems #201 was LHD and not this colour combo.

These are the observations:
- Based on the build data the Archive gets from Buchloe, there are no RHD B6S’ built in this colour combo (grey with ivory lavalina).
- This particular vehicle has been UK registered against an ALPINA VIN ending 210
- B6S #210 was originally white.
- B6S #201 was built LHD.

There are other examples of ALPINAs which have been delivered where the stamped VIN and the build plaque display different numbers. In these instances the ‘correct’ one has been shown to be the stamped VIN, not the plaque.

Therefore, I think that this car is #210 and has been resprayed/wrapped grey at some point. This is all a bit theoretical without confirmation of the stamped VIN and it may need further investigation even with that.

Will the owner of this B6S please stand up....

#confusing or what. One of the reasons of getting an Alpina or any car for that reason is Providence....e.g. A Japanese alpina forum or instagram connection should be able to identify....whats going on with this one....my bet its a wrap..

I spoke to the seller a few days ago,
He bought the car with the supercharger gone, he bought a new clutch kit from bmw and a seal kit from the USA, according to him it runs okay now, a low mileage car , shows you that there is no guarantees on the Superchargers
Well....the supercharger had gone, clutch has been replaced, it's no longer got the paint it left the factory with and you can't verify the mileage or previous history - maybe it is a bargain but either way I think you'd need a brave pill to buy this!
