This B5 #40 was for sale at Shaks SSC cars earlier in the year then it went to Reverie Cars then to Sytner. It is now listed both at SSC and Sytner Nots.

Also the Black 2020 B3 Saloon is listed at bothe SSC and Reverie Cars, so there must be a connection.

Also a question, does anyone have experience of having driven both a B5 and a B3,. Is the B5 that much bigger and what about driving dynamics.

I also remember some variants of the latest B5 and D5 have 4 wheel steer.

First post by way. Thanks to Neil and everyone for an informative/friendly and mature site.

Hello and welcome

I can’t vouch for a B3, but my G31 B5 Touring has four wheel steer and feels markedly more agile than the G31 530d Xdrive Touring I had before - feels like a smalller car, somehow, in a good way.

Hi yamyam, welcome to the forum.

Pistonheads recently released a video with Dan Prosser comparing a G30 550i with a B5. He touches on the merits of rear steer - it’s worth a watch.

Hap and Metrics Hello.
I must admit the Black B5 is a lovely car with a nice spec, but its been on sale now for a few months now either at sytner/ssc/reverie. It must mean that its not a popular car with buyers, which will reflect when, in the next few years its time to move it on again.

Not necessarily. Covid has had an impact - cars are not being used much. The other factor is inevitably considering an M5 - more selection for colour, spec and I suspect finance.
However Alpina are a niche brand and niche choice, so they can be hard to sell as the numbers of buyers can be small.
All boils down to what you want. When you experience the Alpina magic, few cars come close to the combination they offer and they tend to be enjoyed for a good few years before considering a change.
Good luck with your choice.
