2014 F31 D3 Bi-Turbo #002

Post by CB 987 » Tue Nov 30, 2021 12:53 am

***Deposit now received***

Rather reluctantly I have decided to advertise my F31 D3, I wanted to offer it to the forum first before listing it elsewhere in the New Year.

Apologies in advance for the lengthy advert, but I wanted to give a complete overview of the car.

Now listed on eBay, please see link for photos https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334259872880 ... SwuXxhvkNj

Equipment

2014 F31 D3 Bi-Turbo Touring, finished in sapphire black metallic with black leather interior.

The car is no. 002, which is a nice touch.

I am not 100% sure on the standard spec before options, but I have listed most of the options/spec of note, it is quite a well specified car.

Optional 20 inch classic wheels.
Panoramic glass sunroof.
Electric folding wing mirrors.
Front and rear parking sensors and reversing camera.
Heated front seats.
Privacy glass.
Gloss black shadow line exterior trim/window surrounds.
BMW tow bar – never fitted in my ownership, it looks like it has seen very little use!
High beam assist.
Professional navigation, with touch pad controller.
Black panel LED display.
Enhanced Bluetooth with music streaming/USB.
Piano black trim as opposed to wood.
Alpina floor mats with contrasting silver leather edging/piping. Silver stitching on the steering wheel. Silver Alpina stripes on the front headrests and roundels on the front and rear seat backs.
Optional black headlining as opposed to the standard light grey.

Exterior

Finished in Sapphire Black Metallic, overall the exterior is in very good condition. There are a few small marks present, commensurate with the age and mileage. There are some stone chips visible on the front bumper/spoiler and edge of the wings, the is a small 1 inch mark on OSR arch, but otherwise this it is a very clean honest example. The car benefitted from a 2 stage paint correction and a 3 year ceramic coating was applied earlier this year. This was completed by Pro-Detail UK in Swindon at a cost of £650.

The only change I have made is to fit genuine BMW F31 LCI rear light clusters. These were professionally installed and coded by Autoworks Services. I ensured a genuine BMW retro-fit wiring loom was also used. I much prefer the look of the LCI rear lights on this car.

Interior

The interior presents well and is finished in black leather with Alpina stipes on the headrests. Overall the interior is in very good order, there is some minimal wear and minor marks, but to my knowledge everything works as it should do. The boot has a genuine BMW load liner in it.

Wheels & Tyres

The car is fitted with the optional 20 inch classic wheels. These are very clean and were fully refurbished at the end of 2020. As part of this process the centre caps were also refurbished and then rebuilt with new genuine Alpina badges and the correct genuine anti rattle pads. Unfortunately, one of the front wheels has picked up a small kerb mark, the other three are unmarked.

The tyres are the correct staggered sizes and are matching Michelin PS4S. The fronts have a good amount of tread remaining and the rears were fitted this week at a cost of nearly £500.

Engine & Transmission

The car has been very reliable during my ownership, it had the EGR re-call completed by my local BMW Dealer. It has now covered approx. 82k miles, but this will rise as it is still in daily use.

History and Maintenance

Supplied new on 13th January 2014 to Sytner Nottingham. I think it was registered to Sytner before being sold to the first owner in around March 2014. In July 2016 is was sold by Sytner to the previous keeper. I purchased it in June 2019. For an unknown reason there are a couple of additional keepers on the log book. Looking at the HPI, I think this might be down to it being transferred by Sytner early on in its life and then perhaps between say a business and an individual. This has never bothered me.

MOT History

The MOT history all checks out online, the car is booked in at my local BMW dealer the new MOT will be valid until January 2023.

Service History

The car has a very good service history, nearly all BMW main dealer, it was inspected recently by a trusted local specialist who completed an interim oil change and end of warranty check. I also have a spreadsheet print out detailing all expenditure by the previous owner (2016 – 2019).
I personally don’t agree with BMW long life servicing intervals, so I have opted to complete interim oil services.

The car has also been under BMW extended warranty for the majority of its life, however this had become expensive and I chose not to continue with it recently.

The digital service history on the car is all up to date, the history is as follows:

06/2015 – 18k miles – Engine Oil & Micro filter – BMW Dealer
11/2015 - 23k miles – Engine Oil & Micro filter – BMW Dealer
08/2016 - 33k miles - Engine Oil & Micro filter & Brake fluid – BMW Dealer
09/2016 – 35k miles – Rear Brake Pads – BMW Dealer
12/2016 – 37k miles – Front Brake Pads – BMW Dealer
12/2017 – 48k miles - Engine Oil, Micro filter, Air Filter, Fuel Filter & Vehicle Check – BMW Dealer
01/2019 - 57k miles – Brake fluid - BMW Dealer
01/2019 – 57k miles – Front and rear brake discs & pads - BMW Dealer
08/2019 – 60k miles - Engine Oil & Micro filter & Post Purchase Inspection – Redish Bristol (BMW Specialist)
09/2020 – 69k miles - Interim Oil Service only – BMW Dealer – Not recorded on car, to avoid putting the service cycle out of sync. Invoice present.
12/2020 – 71k miles – Brake Fluid – BMW Dealer
03/2021 – 73k miles - Engine Oil, Micro filter, Air Filter, Fuel Filter & Vehicle Check – BMW Dealer
10/2021 – 80k miles - Interim Oil Service only – Autoworks Services (BMW Specialist) – Not recorded on car, to avoid putting service cycle out of sync. Invoice present.

The next service is an oil service due 03/2023 or in 8,000 miles. I don’t drive it heavily and the discs and pads look to have a decent amount of life left in them, they have covered approx. 25k miles.

Additional Work

In addition to routine servicing the following work has been completed during my ownership:

01/2020 – New rear window seals to cure the common seals shrinking which effects F31 models. – BMW Dealer.
02/2020 – EGR Recall – BMW Dealer.
New rear window screen as the DAB radio failed to work when the heated rear window was switched on.
01/2021 – All 4 wheels professionally refurbished by Platinum Alloy Wheels. New centre badges and anti-rattle pads.
03/2021 – New xenon headlight level sensor, glow plug and steering wheel damper bush upgrade to cure the common F30 steering wheel knock – BMW Dealer.
11/2021 – Hunter 4 wheel alignment.
11/2021 – 2x Michelin PS4S rear tyres in correct 265 30 20 size.

Summary

I am asking £27,250, I am going to be pretty firm on price initially as I know well specified F31 touring models are quite sought after. I am in no rush to sell as my new car doesn’t arrive until June and I need to purchase a stop gap.

I have the V5 in my name, the car is HPI and finance clear and I also have both remote keys. Sorry but no group viewings and test drives will require proof of fully comp insurance.

I am located in North Wiltshire close to J15 of M4 motorway.

I will be very sorry to see it go, but we are expecting our 3rd child next year and I really do need something more practical which I will be much less precious about.

I definitely plan to be back in a few years with a G21 or G31.

Please feel free to ask me any questions, happy to PM my number if you would prefer to call and discuss.

Cheers, I wanted to give as much information as possible.

I have ordered a new Audi Q7, admittedly I've never been a huge Audi or SUV fan, but it is a car which suits out current lifestyle well. I really don't like people carriers, which left us with very few options other than an SUV of some sort. The three isofix seats in the middle row of a Q7 is a big plus. We looked at several other options, but the Q7 felt more like a large estate than an SUV. I had planned to buy a used one, but for various reasons a new one with a chunk of discount worked out well for us.

I hope to be back in a couple of years in a G21 or G31.

Thankfully a private buyer, I hope it’s going to a good home, I’ll point them in the direction of the forum. I only advertised it properly at the weekend, I honestly thought it would take a while to sell at this time of year.

Well cared for Tourings with a good spec generally do well when they’re priced realistically.

I did share your ad in a few FB groups (whether it made any difference, who knows  )

it had a nice spec, things like the rhoms in the head rests add a bit of specialness as most UK Alpinas have fairly plain BMW trims normally
