Wanted: (Now found) Roadster S

Post by Number5 » Sat Jun 20, 2020 9:53 pm

I'm considering either adding to or replacing my current Alpina Roadster S

I'm looking for a later (2005/6) low mileage (c50k), well kept example. I don't mind if Lux or Standard as History and condition are more important.

Having updated this thread, https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=88374 I'm ware of whats on the Trade market now but wondered what else may appear privately soon.

What have you got and who's thinking of selling ?

hi Number 5
Thinking of selling mine as looking for an SLK 55 AMG. Don't know yet 100% if I can bring myself to sell it but if I do, it won't be for another 2 months or so. Number 103, 35k miles black/ red. 04 plate.
Will let you know if it's for sale.
cheers

OK Thanks,
Nice low mileage and I dont mind black at all, However, I'd ideally prefer a later 05/55 car, but please keep me posted.

I notice you are in Bristol....my son was working there before being asked to WFH in London...if he needs to return to the office, I might come up in the car and give you a chance to view it...

Yes that would be great. I can always find an excuse to see another Roadster ! I'm right on the M4/M5 cross too so easy to get to.
Show me yours and I'll show you mine :D

On the weekend I picked up Roadster #307 so my search is over. #307 has 42.5k miles on and is an exact copy of #019 in Silver & Black but with half the miles. It's not quite in the condition I'd like it to be but with a bit of TLC I'm hoping it will be soon and if I'm happy with it , I'm planning to list #019 for sale in early Spring. (Can't keep them all unfortunately !)

Very nice Number5! congrats. As former Z4 owner I appreciate these cars. despite being built in the states....the build quality was really good plus each panel, trim, piece of plastic, piece of leather feels really bespoke and a special place to sit! Do you have any plans for her upgrade wise or just keep OEM and TLC?

This is cool - loving a car so much you go out and finder a 'younger' version of it. Glad you managed to find one you are happy with. You'll have to post some photos of them both together.

Agree with the Z4 sentiments too - my friend had a Z4M Roadster some years back and I always thought the interior was truly special. Totally different to any other BMW in the range at that time.

Thank you.
I just plan to het it back to tip top condition again and keep it as OEM as possible. The only variants from OEM on #019 were as follows and it was like this when I bought it in 2015 :-

- B12 Pro Suspension Kit fitted when original suspension was tired. (This has lowered the car by 30mm, but the handling is superb)
- Roof Motor Relocation
- Covert Aux Port installed
- Kidney Grill changed to black
- Stubby Aerial fitted (Just so the car cover sits on easier )
- Clear third brake light
- Clear side repeaters
(Some of the later Alpina Roadsters seemed to have the clear indicators, but I'm not sure at what point it changed, or if it was a European thing)
- Headlights changed at some point to black inners with Halo DRL's added (looked really nice but I've now reverted back to the correct standard lights)

Bar the headlights, I will probably do exactly the same to #307 to be honest and I'm happy to put #019 back to OEM before I sell it in Spring

This is #019 in all its glory and I think the mods were subtle and suited the car > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2MxKaxs9p4
