B10 V8S For Sale - DEPOSIT ACCEPTED, SALE AGREED
B10 V8S For Sale - DEPOSIT ACCEPTED, SALE AGREED
Hi everyone, I'm looking to sell my 2002 year B10 V8S saloon. This is one of 42 made. I dearly love the car and have owned it since April 2013. When I purchased the car it had full Sytner service history. Since that time I've been sending her to Barney at Classic Heroes. I'm the third owner.
The condition is very good, paintwork silver and leather is grey. I had all the wheels refurbished, the underside and wheel wells cleaned and prepared (liners removed etc), every little issue addressed which in total cost about £3,500. Tyres are all good, rears were replaced <1k miles ago. Current mileage about 143k. Widescreen sat nav and multi changer in the boot. Electric everything. There was an electrical gremlin which was draining the battery which I spent a frankly silly amount of money getting to the bottom of. It was ultimately found to be the heater exchange which had been shorting out and draining the battery. I have the original exchange to prove this. Everything is fine now (thank goodness!).
To give you some background, I moved abroad for work at the end of 2010 and have a young family. We return to the UK each summer and I had an itch to buy a car to use when we're back. The Alpina fitted the bill. When we're not in the UK the car is professionally stored at a facility near Gatwick airport (I have another car there also but not for sale). It's always hooked up to a trickle charger and turned over when need be. Each to their own but I was never a fan of the Alpina dark wood trim so replaced for carbon black. I still have the original trim so easy to swap over.
Basically it makes no sense for me to own the car anymore. I pay £120 per month storage, get stung for insurance because I'm now considered a "non-resident of the UK" and only drive her for a couple of months total per year so I'm running nearly £3k per year to keep her which doesn't make sense. Since I've owned the car I've only added about 4,000 miles if that. I have prints of the Sytner history and all the invoicing from Classic Heroes which runs at close to £5k.
I paid £7k for the car and think a reasonable price with no negotiation would be £6,000 considering all the work that has been done (wheels, tyres, trim, rust proofing, servicing etc.). If anyone is interested I can have the car taken to my brother-in-laws house who has offered to help me sell the car as I can't do so whilst abroad. He lives in Hook, Hampshire. Alternatively a friend of mine runs a showroom and garage in South East London and has offered to sell but he'll add his cut to the price I want which I think will make the price unrealistic.
So, if anyone is interested, and I mean seriously interested, not just looking to have a sniff round, then please message me. I have more pictures on my home computer but this is all I had on my Blackberry. I've set the price for a quick, non-negotiable sale. The longer it's in storage etc. the more it costs me so I've taken account of that and the fact it's a very specialist car with a limited market of potential buyers.
I love my Alpina, it's so refined yet powerful and I can see myself returning to the manufacturer when we return to the UK but for now the numbers don't make sense. There is one small scuff on one of the front wheels but otherwise they are like new. Remember these are the 19's". Paintwork is great, very straight, all original mats including boot are present, tool kit etc. Basically everything. Slight rust appearing around the numberplate light but otherwise great.

Even with the mileage this would be the cheapest V8S on sale for a long time and I started looking for one over four years ago and there were none as low priced as this. I agree it will be a bargain for someone, might need a bit of money to be spent on it but there is enough room at that price to make it well worthwhile. Looking at what is on Pistonheads it will stand out.

Thanks for the comments guys. I wanted to advertise it here first because you guys know these cars.
You would have no idea of the mileage if you were sat behind the wheel. So well put together, no rattles or squeaks, the engine is lovely. Barney at Classic Heroes is happy to discuss. If any of you know his work, he goes over cars like a man with OCD and he has regularly commented how well she drives.
If I was being picky the only thing that could be looked at is the slight rust under the numberplate light but you have to be on your knees to see it and it's small. There must come a time when spending money on every bodywork issue doesn't make financial sense. Otherwise the outside and inside are really good. The wheels look great, they were refurbed by Lepsons.
Quite simply the longer I have it the more I spend hence I've taken account of that in the price now. I'll leave it a few more days and then make the sale more public via Pistonheads.

No offence to Tadders but if I saw a B10 V8s offered for £6k and had to deal with a brother-in-law or friend to buy it I'd be very wary.
I'm sure it's just me being paranoid as I've seen your other posts so it all seems genuine but I'm sure you can see how it might look a bit iffy .
Hopefully someone ends up with a great car at a knock down price.

BarryM, I thought the same as I was typing my advert!! If I'd have put: "car for sale since I live and work in Bermuda, kept in a barn in East Grinsted, couple of thousand miles in 2 years, I won't be back in the UK until mid January and even then will be on a work trip so deal with my bro-in-law who will have the car on his driveway once the blokes from storage deliver it there" I'd have been ripped to shreds!!
There's nothing dodgy, if anyone wants the car they can call me, look me up on the internet, speak to Barney at Classic Heroes, run HPI etc. If it makes it sound more legit I can have the car taken to my parents house in North Kent but I know my Dad would be nervous about test drives and paperwork so best to leave it to someone a little younger.
I'm being realistic and I know if I put the car up for sale at some silly price that some dreamers ask I'll still have it for sale in 6 months and have caused a major headache for my family. The car was for sale at 8k when I first saw it and I paid 7k. I'm not in the country so can't really sell it myself and I don't want to put it on my brother-in-law. 6k is a great deal for someone who wants a very rare V8S and it works for me.

Just a little update: I've just been asked if I'll accept £5k for a quick sale. The answer is no. The £6k price is non-negotiable. As acknowledged by others it's a very fair price.
I've just had a quick search on Pistonheads and for comparison there is a '99 3.3 B10 with an asking of £8,995 (104k miles), Old Colonel have a '97 standard V8 with 94k miles for £11,995, they also had another 3.3 2003 year with 105k miles for £9,995 (now reserved). There's a few for sale on Car and Classic BUT no V8S' for sale at present.

I'm glad you took my comment in the spirit it was intended, in all honesty I think you could ask for £7k and still get some takers but if no-one on here is interested I'm sure it will be gone pretty quick once you advertise it to a wider audience.

V8S's are rare cars. At the risk of stating the blooming obvious, you just need to find the right buyer for a what is quite a specific kind of car. At the price you have pitched it I'm sure it will sell easily and someone will get a fantastic car for modest outlay. Best of luck finding that buyer and having a smooth and easy transaction.
