Results - 1st ADAC GT Master round - ALPINA 1st & 3rd

Post by neil » Tue Apr 26, 2011 9:47 pm

The new ALPINA B6 GT3 Evo 11 competed in the first round of the 2011 ADAC GT Masters.

LIQUI MOLY Team Engstler ran 2 B6 GT3s Numbers 40 and 41

Car 41 finished FIRST in race 1 and THIRD in race 2

Superb results !!

Car 40 didn't fare quite so well finishing 21st in race 1 and 13th in race 2

What a pity noone is running the car in the European FIA GT3 series :(

I'm busy setting up the 2011 race pages and will post the full ALPINA results there and link later

The end of the first race - concentrates on the battle for second to begin with - but nice clip of ALPINA crossing the line and Andy B looking very happy !!

Bit of anecdotal stuff from the Factory:

Having won the first race meant 30kg of penalty weight into the car for the second race (equality regulations)

3rd place in the second race means another 10kg will be added for the next race. Places 4th, 5th and 6th would then mean 10, 20 or 30kg are removed.

Contrary to the other cars apart from the SLS, we were running a harder compound on the rear, meaning that towards the end of the race we were only loosing 1 sec due to tyre wear compared to 2 sec of the competition. The softer compound is about 3/10th of a sec quicker in qualifying though.
