If you're using mains gas and electricity, you should be able to get a good deal, somewhere, using a comparison website. Just be aware, some of them are linked to energy companies. Try www.moneysavingexpert.com as they're at least independent. Watch out for lock-ins/tie-ins/handcuffs (ooer, missus (Sorry, Vincentvblanche wrote:thanks for your reply.
It's a nightmare to choose an energy company, so many and so many different plans...who/what to trust...

We're mains electricity only, so no savings worth having available for us, sadly

Trust no-one and nothing in this sector.vblanche wrote:.who/what to trust...
Read the small print very, very carefully before you sign anything.
Work out your actual energy usage over the last year or two and then use that to calculate the best deal for you.
Moneysavingexpert is a very useful site, but it's an internet forum at the end of the day. There is a lot of information on the internet - some of it is true

we're moving to a new place (renting), so I don't know the past energy usage, I will ask.
thanks

Are you moving far, and is the new place similar or very different to where you are currently? You may be able to estimate usage from your current house if they are similar, as that is more in-tune with your normal usages. As an example, the house we bought 18 months ago was lived in by people who had 8x60W of bulbs in a particular light fitting and ran it constantly. We replaced it with a 5x30W eco-type bulb fitting, and use it rarely. Hell of a difference in electricity usage. They ran their heating all day, we use ours much more sparingly etc etc, so be careful using other peoples' usage rates to estimate your future usage in any property.vblanche wrote:we're moving to a new place (renting), so I don't know the past energy usage, I will ask.

A: Miele.
The only thing my wife would trust with hand wash cashmere and the like (life is too short to do hand wash... by hand).
