Yep, we often drove them to Humberside from Leicestershire quite regularly, but never whilst on holiday from Wales And you can feel quite assured, we wouldn't be holding traffic upMarkEG wrote:In Lincolnshire we also have rolling roads (its not all flat ) and are pestered by inexperienced, nervous, ignorant etc drivers - probably over from Wales on their vacations ).

I honestly believe there should be a regular, compulsory retest of all drivers and it should include evaluations of when it would/wouldn't be safe to overtake plus courtesy to other road users.
I was driving on a spacesaver spare one day a few years back so limited to a low speed so I took care to pull over every so often and let the queue past, probably added two minutes to my journey in total but let a lot of other motorists get on their way.
Why don't people just *think* about their driving? It's both an art and a skill, it takes practise, thought and continual learning. If you can't do that, you shouldn't be on the road.

Agreeing with you again, John A touch of courtesy and thought for others does go a very long way.
Also agree on a routine re-test; though I doubt it would happen in my lifetime, sadly. I think at the very least a retest at, say, 70 y/o should be mandatory, and I would certainly welcome it when I reached that grand old age to ensure mine and others' safety.

I'd also like to submit the People carrier for vehicles to be instantly wary of, and the Vauxhall Agila to be so feared that a detour or articulated vehicle length stop gap be exercised.Chas wrote:... wearing some kind of headgear and driving Micras...ade and liz flint wrote:What do you all think, how do we distinguish between the true idiots and the inexperienced?
also, would like to propose anyone with a pseudo-drainpipe as an exhaust - plenty of noise, but no grunt for overtaking (the headgear usually comes into play with this one..)

... then you can be certain that it'll be driven by a complete maniac who is trying to wring ALPINA performance from less than 200bhp and a full load of people, dogs and luggage
