Spotted this on the M90this afternoon heading north towards the Forth Road Bridge. It also had an ALPINA grille badge.

If someone wanted their car to have the 'Alpina' look but could not afford a genuine car, would he be prepared to pay for the badges or simply lift them from a 'Genuine' vehicle.
Only a thought.....and I am not saying this is the case here....

The ALPINA badge is not expensive and readily available on ebay for a few pounds. It is the model badge that is expensive.
