Hi All,

As some of you may know, I bought this lovely car earlier this week. Just sneaking it home in time! Today has been the first day I’ve had any time to do anything to it. I’ll be doing more in coming days/weeks, but thought I’d start with the mucky jobs!

The arches needed a deep clean. The disc bells a bit of a run down and under the bonnet was a little dusty. All sorted in 6 hours. The car had a quick wash too, and I touched up a number of stone chips.

The pics don’t appear to be in the order that I uploaded them! Essentially, the mucky pics are the befores!

Congrats Matt, lovely car and great work on the detailing. What do you use in the arches?

I use Meguiars APC and also some tar remover, and lots of scrubbing with soft bristled brushes. The carpet bits are just jet washed slowly. Then I have some Sonax plastic trim restorer for the trims. The aluminum bells and suspension arms are scrubbed with a Halfords sanding pad and some fine wire wool.

Looks really nice Matt, and a big improvement. What method do you use in the engine bay?

Nice work, I use Meguiars APC too, but the tar remover is a good shout, many thanks.

More bits and pieces done to the car. De-badge, plenty of little touch ups, summer alloys back on. Getting there slowly. Lockdown is super annoying, as I’ve only done 20 miles in it since getting it home!

I'm planning to get chrome boot badges again and chrome bumper front bumper strips to replace the black ones fitted. Not sure about the grills, as I quite like them black. I do have some spare chrome grills in the garage, so might try them at some point. I'd then need/want to look at the black striping and logo on the bumper and decide if they should be silver too. What I really need to do is find out how it left the factory and then I can make an informed decision.

Thanks Hap. I suspect that new chrome boot badges wil be a million quid  The chrome front bumper slats are cheap enough from BMW, so they're a given.

Looking fantastic. I share your pain about just getting the car before lockdown then not being able to drive it - I drove my new B3S touring back from Sytner on 21st March - lockdown started on 23rd and so I have taken it out twice since - both essential journeys and no fun (a funeral and taking the dog to the vet!). Still, at least they won't get dirty :D

We'll have to have a local meet up once the lockdown is over. I'm in Solihull most days. :)
