Thanks :D

The old leather was so shiny that it looked as though it had been varnished :!:

Good luck with the e36 M3 hunt. I still think a Z3M Coupe at the right price (they are out there) is a better bet

the zm3 will certainly be a more involving drive! E36's are quite sedate even when on a charge

I like "sedate" Simon. :D As you know, I am no spring chicken and enjoy my creature comforts. My cars have to have four seats. I have never been a two seater kind of guy. It is my son who wants the Z3M.

The plastic bag they came in looks a genuine Alpina part, must be worth a bit on ebay!

Very flimsy. A gust of wind would blow them away

I think I will frame the Alpina wrapping paper

That is not a plastic bag they are sitting on. It is wrapping paper. They were wrapped in that then placed into a clear BMW parts bag.

Not far off the price of a kidney. They cost £196 the pair

Problem is I am scared to put them on the car in case some cretin tries to steel them!

Ok, you win :? After looking at them I can see they are a single use badge.

It will get bloody expensive if we get any paintwork done.

I have not given up yet though. I am still looking at a way round it before I peel off that backing paper

So as you know, I had a go at cleaning the Alpina stitching on our steering wheel and it came up like new.

We did not have a problem regarding re-covering the wheel, but did not want to lose the straight Alpina stitching.

The next job was to make the tired leather look better. The rim was badly worn and patchy and the air-bag cover had some digs and scratches.

I used the leather colouring balm from FurnitureClinic. Then finished the job off with some Gliptone leather conditioner.

I think the finished job looks pretty good. The wheel is no longer slippery and has a nice feel and satin look. Job done :D

Lovely job MCB, the steering wheel looks great and the whole interior is transformed. Must be a lovely place to sit after this make over.

The furniture clinic stuff looks great - I will be using it on mine, which needs loads of work!
