window seal rubbers cracking.

Post by thomas v8 » Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:26 pm

Just wonderd is there a cleaning product that members have used to keep the exterior window rubber seals in there best condition possible. Mine have started to crack and look like they could do with a clean up. E39 estate.

Is it even possible to have them treated or is just the case to buy and fit new rubber seals?

Gummi pfledge (spellcheck) should do the trick, and a bottle will last years.

Yep gummi pflege. Usually only available online these days 'cos it's dangerous if you drink it/smoke it/bathe a baby in it.

I'll try my local Bmw dealers first if not, then try to get some online.

It's also great on all boot seals and the seals in the engine compartment.

and, although I have no personal knowledge of this (honest 'guv), apparantly it stops the rubber-bit-between-your-toes on flip-flops from going hard and cracking

Groundnut oil....it will feed the rubbers with natural oils and over time start to replenish as well....
