Alloy wheel cleaner

The X3d and a nearly here.. I am starting to get prepared with the new cleaning kit l, not cleaned a car in 6 months whilst I got a run about when my X3 went back

So when I had the x340 I had a problem with two alloys and I took it back and they said it must be a cleaner that caused corrosion but it never happened to the other two.. the wheels were perfect and as I only had 3 months to go and was contract hire car and was corrosion I was not too bothered and there was no charge on return..

So I got some black ones coming and it’s not on contract and don’t want to end up on a slanging match so what should I use that they can’t complain about ??

I use Bilberry wheel cleaner which is "acid free" and works particularly well on pre-waxed/sealed wheels.

I also use Bilberry and have for years. I would definitely avoid Autoglym "Clean Wheels" and Meguiars "Hot Rims" as my experience of both is that they are much more aggressive.

That said some wheels, especially diamond cut just seem to corrode. My 2013 M135i had corrosion emanating from the wheel centres after just two years and they were just regularly painted.

I used Demon Wheels, just spray on and they use soapy car shampoo and rinse. Not noticed any issue wit 21 inch alloys.

I have used Bill Hamber Auto-Wheel for years with no apparent damage on the wheels.

I’ve wasted a lot of money on wheel cleaner.

All you need is Bilberry sprayed on with a foam sprayer.

Another vote for Bilberry wheel cleaner here. Also use Bilt Hamber Kerrosol from time to time.
