Any pics of the crank, when the HG's were done on my old B8, the builder said that the crank looked like new and was green - sadly he didn't take any photos!

Are you planning on up cycling the old block? Coffee table perhaps?

I was thinking of laying it out along with all the other bits I've replaced over the years to produce the 9th B3S Touring in the UK

Been dealing with a bit of snagging before getting the car back - including the oil pressure light flickering on idle when hot.

Cutting a long story short, it transpires that the 3.4 engine uses a standard BMW oil pump BUT the pressure spring is changed out for a slightly "stronger" ALPINA version which deals with the idle pressure. The 3.2 and 3.3 engines get away with the standard pressure spring.

Who knew!!!!!!!

Hopefully you are keeping a detailed list of these nuances for the next time you rebuild triggers broom. 😉

Nothing would compare to your encyclopaedic knowledge of the market for ALPINA sales but if something comes up relating to an E46, I probably have experienced it and/or know about it

Hi Charles I have sent you a PM regarding Alpina servicing. Absolutely no rush to reply but interested in your thoughts and experience.

Thanks Charles, I suspect your practical knowledge is probably more useful ultimately!

On a side note: any idea why the BBCode/Smilies etc are disabled on your posts? If I quote you it doesn't show properly with the usual highlighted area for the previous posts. When I quote anyone else it shows as in your reply to my comment.

Absolutely no idea whatsoever!

Never changed the settings so unless someone else can point me at the right place, it will have to stay this way, I'm afraid. However, the panel on the right as I write this is showing smilies and telling me that BBCode and everything else is "ON"

Just done a little experimentation and it's only your blog posts that have BBCode disabled. Any other posts you have made in the other sections are fine.

Useful analysis - I'll take a look later.

In the meantime, guess what's back in my garage?
