A bit of a freshen up

Post by Charles » Sat Aug 19, 2017 7:38 pm

As some of you might have been aware, I gave my car some TLC recently to deal with some rust on both rear arches and to spruce up the front end with a respray of the bonnet, spoiler and front wings to rid the car of the significant road rash it has picked up over the last few years.

To achieve this, the existing stripes needed to be removed but as of this afternoon, they are back, including full spoiler stripes for the first time. I also treated the car to a new set of wheel emblems as the original one really were looking quite tacky!

Here are a few pictures to show the outcome of all this work - I hope you like them :D

Looks fabulous. On the basis of how good your decals look, I think I'll go full decal on my B3 convertible.

On the basis that none of the three companies could be bothered to get back to me, I'm happy to bank the cash and pay for another respray in a few years time

The E46 wears stripes very well - I assume you will go for silver on blue?

Yes - the front spoiler decal is already there in silver. Such an elegant combination Alpina blue and silver.

Looking very fresh Charles, well done.

Where do you guys get your decals from?

Looks lovely Charles. Can I ask who you entrusted to do the paintwork?

Grove Car Body Repairs - who were recommended by a forum member.

Not the cheapest but their attention to detail was second to none and I would recommend them to anyone.

You should try living in Essex! No-one gets back to you about anything! Care repairs, body re-sprays, interior work, tree surgeons, extensions (unless its worth over £100k) painting etc...

That looks a lovely job. My E39 B10 is also in need of a freshen up, wheel arches and tailgate mainly. What should I expect to pay for a similar high-quality job?

However, Wantage is a bit of a trek for me, so if anyone knows of an equivalent establishment a bit closer to Farnham, Surrey, I'm all ears.
