Purchase of B10 3.3 Touring - No. 004

Post by woolley11 » Mon Mar 25, 2024 10:31 am

Well I jumped at buying 004 when it was offered for sale.

Needs recommissioning and fair bit of body work but certainly no breaker.

On look out for decent s/h tailgate and nsf wing. It’ll need a pair of sills and rear arches doing.

Needs fuel lines and brake pipes and good service.

I’ll try and keep pics updated as I progress but it will be a slow burner as busy and looking at moving house.

sit tight and hold out for some genuine wings in the correct colour and then get them prepped with por15 and dinitrol. i did this for both my coupe front wings and worked out much better than front end respray and repaired wings

See how we go 😊

Main aim is to replace damaged fuel line(s) so I can get it running and move about under its own steam.

I can’t / won’t do bodywork so it’ll be hopefully sorted by someone who knows what they are doing.

Shopping list for bodywork is; a pair of sills, rear arch repair panels, s/h tailgate and s/h nsf wing.

Mechanicals unknown at moment but Jamie who I bought it off reckoned she was fit as a fiddle before fuel line fractured and it got laid up. But they need using so lack of use will have bought it’s fair share of additional work no doubt.

Incidentally #047 needs a new sill (after jacking point collapse last year) and wheel arch repair panels - also tailgate needs attention in usual places. I can get that booked in soon once I’ve ordered the panels - MOT expires in June so will need doing before then as will fail it on hole in sill. It’ll be a good practice for whoever does #004.

I’ll do a separate Topic on it when I start doing it, together with pics. I’ve a Volvo T5-R I’m sorting at moment so when that’s done and we’ve moved house - I’ll make a start. Needless to say I’ll start sourcing panels if I come across anything - certainly a good tailgate!

Nice work. The parts needed are certainly not Alpina specific, so you should be able to find them readily. Don't forget that these were also available in Germany and France, so parts might be cheap there. However, collecting/ shipping them might be an issue. Spain will also have good rot free parts. I always wanted to do a parts run to Spain.

Please keep us updated on your build. I love the specification of 004.

Yea thought there’s nothing too much to worry about Alpina wise on the body parts.

Not sure if it had a bottom of tailgate bolt on piece - see pic as with #047 - whether that was an LCI upgrade.
