Visit to Buchloe

Post by Peter308 » Fri Sep 29, 2023 2:26 am

Northumberland to Buchloe via Prague, my B5 is a true mile muncher. Today was a round trip of 900km to pick up some merch and take the car back home to the factory before it disappears. I also gate crashed (almost) a factory visit by the Porsche Club of Berlin.

There was plenty of activity going on at the factory although disappointed I could not see a B5 GT in the flesh. Photos very much discouraged apart from the obligatory shots of my car outside the front door.

Fuel consumption along the way has been interesting - struggling to get to 20 mpg around town, 32 mpg at UK motorway speeds and anywhere between 15 and 25 mpg on autobahns, depending on how much I was pushing on.

Fantastic! That's a proper road trip in your new car - using it as it's intended to be used.

I'd love to visit the factory too - hopefully one day.....

Great pic and use #525 is getting, nice one Peter. How fast were you able to get to on the autobahn? Depends on traffic and bravery of course!

I find the B5 surprisingly frugal when driving sensibly in the UK, but use some right foot and that disappears rapidly!

270kph was as good as it got given the traffic/conditions. I’ll have to wait until next spring now as winter tyres will be going on from 1 Nov to be road legal in Europe when travelling over the winter.
