Hi All,
Newbie to Alpina, but have owned many BMWs (inc. 4 E9x models).
I managed to pick this up from my wife's colleague back in August for £3750. It had a suspected blocked DPF, an EGR fault and had been sat under a tree for 6 months without moving. The paint really was in a terrible state.
So far it owes me about £4250 inc. a DPF clean, full detail/ceramic coating and new battery.
Next on the list is a new inlet manifold, replace/remove EGR, and get the inside cleaned up to match the exterior..... oh and get the wheels done in silver!

Hey Neil,
I've watch your videos on the detailing. it came up really well and looks pretty straight. I agree with getting the back to Silver, Black on Black for me is too much.
I'd be interested to see how you get on with the EGR and intake manifold. Are you cleaning them or changing them? I think I have an issue with my EGR at the moment. Seems like it is sticking or intermittently not working I noticed the other day the check engine light came on when the car had only been driven a few miles and then also noticed the car took a lot longer to warm up. I believe the EGR is also used to help warm up the engine. Then once the car was up to temp the light went out and it ran fine.
I'm going to take mine off and have a look see if it is sticking or just caked in carbon. You can take the valve off without disconnecting the cooler and then having to do a coolant change or top up.
I'm sure BMW will only sell the complete EGR system with cooler and from memory I have heard it's close to £500. I have how ever also seen on e-nay Wahler EGR valves only, which is the same as OEM fitment which sell for around £120. Annoyingly though I went to buy one the other day from a german supplier who quickly had no stock when I asked if he can ship to UK. (Dam Brexit is making it harder to move things from Europe to UK). So looking for a UK Supplier (May try Alloy Wheels Direct see if they can help).
Great story so far and looking forward to the fix for the boost issue.
Mark.

Neil,
Welcome to the Forum and Alpina magic.
A thought is this covered by the BMW recall for the egr/cooler issues? Might be worth checking before you go to any expense

Re: Newbie with E90 D3 BT #382
Thanks Mark, I posted my initial boosting issues video the other day.
You can get the EGR valve from fixparts-online for £150, but i'm probably going to try clean this first as i'm trying to spend as little as possible until ive got the boosting issues sorted.
The inlet will need replacing as the swirl flap control seal has gone and its blowing oil out all over the front of the engine, so it will be getting a full service including breather pipe and probably new boost convertors.
Cheers

I believe the EGR recall was on the F80 D3's. I called Sytner when I heard about this and they said there was nothing on the E90.
