B7 meets XB7

Post by FN69 » Mon Aug 09, 2021 9:15 pm

The B7 went in for some work and I came out to the XB7 as my 'loaner" for the week. It felt totally MASSIVE even stepping from the B7,
The performance felt hilarious, but as the week progressed I really started to enjoy it. It was thirsty and way too big to really handle but it was still a great thing and I could see why you might do it. The high driving position and performance made it easy to drive, and 620 hp gives you a nice edge!!
Stepping back into the B7, after a week in the XB7, made it feel very low, but the B7 felt creamy smooth and rides way better on the 20's after the 23's on the XB7.
The XB7 was really good and if you want this actual car it's now up for sale. Thanks to everyone at Sytner x

Thanks for sharing. Really cool of Sytner to loan you the car. I hope you don't use the £5 car washes to look after your 100K plus car. OK I am judging there are better ways...

I can see the XB7 would be fun for a few days but after that parking etc would no doubt get quite annoying. We had a look at it at Goodwood and it was lovely inside (and the kids would love the rear screens) but I'm still not a fan of the look outside with the massive grille. My Mrs has an X5 and I think for the UK that's big enough but in the US with their big roads I can imagine the XB7 will sell and also in the Middle Eastern markets. Oh and of course London for those who have drivers!

SUV's aren't my thing but I do find this beast strangely alluring and I'm sure I would enjoy it, however...

this is the key point. I would find it impossible to live with the car because I'd be afraid of taking it anywhere due to the size. There's a fair few multistorey's round my way where it genuinely wouldn't be able to enter and you're guaranteed to come back to dents if you frequent the supermarket with any regularity. These are just not suited to our small island.

Having previously had a FFRR Vogue that was too tall for a number of car parks (and the local tip unless I dropped the air suspension to access mode) it was great when I got an X5 to find that would fit under any barrier even if a bit wide for the actual spaces (and now my partner has one). I haven't looked at the stat's for the XB7 but I'm guessing height AND width would be a issue. No doubt immensely comfortable though on a long Motorway schlep.

Yes. 'Strangely alluring ' that's a good way to describe it. Thought I'd hate it, but had a blast.
