B3 S Inividual Cabriolet. Stratus Grey/Ecru Nappa.
Bought myself this car at the weekend. I had been looking for an interesting convertible, for not too much money, for a little while now, when this car popped up on Gumtree.
Went to see it last Thursday, told the owner I wanted to buy it, mainly because of the colour, but, then got cold feet. The owner then offered me the car at a price I’d have been mad to walk away from.
I’ve taken it as a bit of a punt, I’ll have to wait until I’ve taken it for a service, before I find out wether it’s just been a good buy, or a bargain.
The colour is Saturn Silver, which is obviously a special order Alpina only colour, and, it’s gorgeous, grey with a gold-ish pearl tint too it. The paintwork is in great condition, apart from the front splitter, which had some damage (they all do that Sir!) but, it’s not too noticeable, unless you’re looking for it.
The interior is Ercu Nappa, which, although in good condition, is mismatched in four areas, the drivers seat, right arm rest, centre arm seat, and the arm rest in the rear bench. A suggestion has been made, that, these items have been reworked in the past, but have bleached quicker since, but, I don’t know?
It’s just coming up to 75k on the clock. The service history isn’t fantastic, but, it’s adequate, and all backs the mileage up.
The wheels could be prettier, they aren’t damaged, but are a little discoloured in places.
It drives really well, but, I have to ask, were these ‘fast’ when they came out? Ha

budget for a new HG within 10k and those new shocks, alpina oe or billys or something else?
re fast.. its all relative i guess. my 748r feels quicker and my audi s6 with a v10 definitely was quicker but the alpina feels just better

It relates to the colour, as the bodyshell is painted by BMW the labelling will be marked as "Individual" reflecting the bespoke colour option for the E46 of that era.Rodderz wrote:Also, what does the 'Individual' actually relate to? The colour? The colour combination? Or some other part of the spec?

Very Nice....
Rodderz...warmest congrats as I nearly myself was planning to view this one, as funilly I thought it was Silver Grey...but looking at your photos - colour looks stunning with the hint of gold!!! I almost opted for a 330ci last year in Brass/Bronze (Messing) Metallic as love this colour (though not for everyone). It sold before I got in (blessing in disguise as here I am :0) I think for yours, the bleaching of the seats slightly put me off viewing it and front valance, but I think lesson learned for me - you can always put things right as a project (cosmetic things). On the plus side, I see yours has the Nav, seat rhombs, Harman K sound etc so well spec'd. Engine/service history wise - either way - it's an Alpina so yours is hopefully built like an Ox. Just look after it and enjoy it...and I soon hope to follow suit. My thread is gone a little quiet (Alpina Wanted) as not many decent ones out there, or if their are - they are silly money (or should i say..out of my range). I am still kind of pining for the Silver Grey one with James Paul with 62k on the clock (Guys, it states this one is an 'Individual' but states Silver Grey - or is this one Stratus Grey is any of you can tell??).
Also love the one on Auto Trader in Silver at 35k miles...but again this one's on the higher end of the budget. I may have to meet owners at an Alpina meet to see if anyone is looking ot sell theirs, if there is a meet this Summer in the UK?? Anybody know anymore of any meets planned (I think there's a separate thread for meets, apologies - i'll keep checking)...Sorry as i've rambled on too much...Happy Driving Folks!

Just a general question on the Harman K sound....Does it make quote a bit of difference compared to the standard BMW sound system?? I've heard mixed comments that either it's quite good or nothing special! I do like a good sound, with a bit of subwoofer bass (but not OTT)!!...I'd love some comments/reviews on this..Many thanks.
