Thank you all for the nice comments. I wondered if I was wasting money pouring in to another old car but I am happy with the results. The mechanic offered to buy the car after driving it :)

The facelift wheels do look much better. I was thinking of putting winter tyres on the old set but I do little mileage and have the vw for bad weather!

Where can i get the sytner sticker please?

If Maidstone area is not too far from you, I can highly recommend a guy who can make your leather look like new, he did a brilliant job on the front seats of my 130M sport.
Also I can highly recommend a detailer who detailed my B5 Bi Turbo before I put it away for the winter, also did a paint correction on the 130.
Would post pics, but my stupid system will not let me

I can give you details, if interested.
Maidstone is not too far I have travelled further on some of my car adventures

If you can pass the details that would be great. Thanks

For the seats I used Adrian at www.autorevive-medway.co.uk/
He did a really good job at a remarkable price, and is a good bloke.

For the detailing I used Fraser Williams in Maidstone, he has a B3 cab, again he did a great job at a great price his number is 07984 916932.
Mention Brian with the B5 BT.

Not a waste if it gets the car right :D

After 255,000 miles and four head gaskets in my B3S Touring, I dread to think how much "love" I've poured into my car but I convince myself the annual bills are less than the depreciation on a newer model ...

Man Maths is great :D

Only a small update since the work. I took the car in for tracking as the wheels and shocks were replaced. For once they said it was pretty much spot on and didnt need any adjustment.

The car also went in to the dealers to address the airbag recall. They were interested in buying the car :?

I was too quick to say No but I should have really asked for a price! I was surprised as well as its an old car and not one they would sell on.

No idea what the car is worth though!

My M3 also went in for the airbag recall so I asked about their interest in the Alpina. Apparently it was one of the employee working there interested in the car.

Great resto thread, nice to see others are at it as well as Simon13 and myself!

I was about to post that your car had the wrong wheels, but nice that you have rectified this issue! What are you doing with the old ones?

Just a word of caution, i understand that rust on the turret required sorting and spraying, but now you have sprayed over the vin numbers, are they still fully legible, as in the picture, it seems like they are barely visible, which may cause you come issues come MOT time, unless the MOT Tester is familiar with Alpina's dual chassis number system.

Thanks for the comments.

I still have the old wheels, I may sell the wheels as I haven't found another Alpina to fit them :)

The VIN numbers are fully visible but I blurred them on the photos uploaded as recommended by members here.

I am considering whether the Alpina stripes would suit the car or keep it low profile?

With stripes is always the right answer! :) I think Silver in this case.
