BMW Number 9 - E90N Alpina D3 Bi-Turbo Switchtronic #262

Post by AidanB10 » Fri May 23, 2014 10:18 pm

As some of you know, I had been contemplating the move back to a Diesel with a career change ahead that would involve me doing more miles, so after looking at all the usual stuff (E39 & E46's) I thought i'd look at the Alpina offering, the D3, I saw a few that looked well, but nothing jumped out at me, upping the budget slightly took me looking at D3 MT's (Single Turbo) into Bi-Turbo territory

So after a bit of hunting, a few phonecalls, emails and even video's, I was incredibly keen for this D3 Bi-Turbo, so flew over to Synter Leicester on Thursday morning, and drove away at lunchtime, quite shocked, newest car i've ever bought

Being an Approved Used example, it comes with 1 year's Warrenty, Breakdown Cover & MOT, aswell as the usual 2 keys etc

Only things I had thrown in with the car were Mudflaps & A Bootliner

Plans? Set of Performance Grille's at some stage, but it'll be the new daily so nothing aside from Servicing

Anyway, spec & Pics below:

Switchtronic (6 Speed with Paddle Shift)

450nm/Torque
19inch Dynamics

Bluetooth
PDC

i reckon the switch-tronic probably suits the diesels pretty well when the mood takes?

Mudflaps are mandatory for N.I :o

Every E30 going had them even 325i Sports which never had "flaps"

I like mudflaps in a pervert way i've just fitted some to my e34 heap - not the bi turbo but another different beast

Classic Sytner level of Cleanliness! That 16 year old car cleaner need to be a bit more thorough!

On a serious note, i don't think you could get a better daily driver.

My circumstances may change over the next few months and i may need a diesel 'weekend driver' as it were and apart from the cheap work cars i could get this is my only option.

Enjoy it! :)

Yeah it does, just tapping the paddles puts it into Manual Mode

Yeah they really are, "Mats, Flaps & Towbar, the cheapest one" is NI Spec

Hi sorry to interrupt but I was just wondering if the switchtronic buttons are tapped and the car is put into manual, how do you get it back into auto? Sorry it may sound daft
BTW great car :D

Thanks very much!

If you tap either of the buttons on the steering wheel, but if you dont either accelerate or go up/down a gear or 2, it automatically goes back into D

Changes are very very quick, which surprised me
