19/10/2007 - What's a Carbon Footprint ?
Well my total one is aparently 20.10 !
UK Average Household : 26.32
UK Personal Average : 10.96
and My Primary Footprint
14.15 - average house hold: 12.03 average person: 5.01
What suprised me was that it asked for mileage by train, which I'd never thought about - mine is c. 38k / year !
Plus it only asked about 2 cars - so my B8 didn't get a mention
You can check your out at : http://www.carbonfootprint.com
lets see who's the greenest !

9.38 total...but I live alone, now, & am retired!
Added later;
I think there's more to this...think about it. Whilst it is impossible to get every single person on the planet to "Save the Planet", (I've actually been a critic of "Global warming" for years), there IS another side to the story.
By switching off a few appliances and lights, taking shorter showers, using the car less, etc, etc, it DOES makes a difference to the hip pocket. As for "saving the planet" I'm not so sure about.
I've been toying with the idea of buying a plasma TV (so I can better watch the Aussies belt the Brits at cricket) , B-U-T...plasma TV's use 75% more power than the normal TV! So that's that theory gone.
Seeing as I probably have a low 'footprint', how about someone trade your carbon for mine? For money, of course
Obviously this is tongue-in-cheek stuff, but I reckon it's worth thinking about just for the personal benifit of saving a few bob. Ultimatly Governments should take the bull by the horns and MAKE all of us change our wastful ways, not through legislation (God, we have too much of that already), but by tickling our fancy to save MONEY. It speaks all languages, doesn't it?

Charles look at it from a positive point of view.....you can only use 1 item at a time yourself so in my book that lets you off the hook!Charles wrote:I daren'tneil wrote:Just for the record I agree this is all spin but just amused to see how people compare....

I even put in the B8 and it gave me:
Total primary footprint of 9.17
and therefore a total footprint (personalised primary plus average secondary, which is probably an overestimate as it includes some things that can't be true for me - like considering the cost of car production: the B8 is a 1996 car!)
of 15.12 (uses an average secondary for everyone).
Most of mine comes from all that nasty diesel mileage.
Oops!
Still, that will change soon!

Anyone see that Global Warming Conspiracy programme? Very interesting.
My carbon footprint is probably pretty big but I have cars rather than children (and I don't plan to have any). That's going to save a lot more Energy than switching some lights off.
Personally I think the whole global warming / CO2 thing is simply an excuse for the government to tax us even more.
This of course doesn't mean that we should be wasteful as there are still only limited reserves of fuel left but it does mean that we shouldn't be taxed on CO2 emissions.

Plant the foot & bugger the cost!!! AND E-N-J-O-Y...responsibly of course!
I totally agree... co2 stuff is b****T
Governments HAVE to change our minds...& THAT won't happen while they make sooooo much in :excise/ taxes & fines
