BMW Car Club National event 2024 Thruxton - CANCELLED

I was fairly reliably informed yester that the BMW Car Club Gb plan to hold their National event at Thruxton Hampshire in 2024. I have only been a member since 2011 but cannot ever recall this event in the South.

It will be interesting to see how this changes the dynamics of those wishing to attend, from an ALPINA perspective events in the south do reasonably well, date tbc.

I'm within walking distance (if you're a keen walker!) but I suppose that would be missing the point.

I will need to speak to my ALPINA colleagues but it might make good locations for a separate ALPINA section. We had 43 at Donington in 2022, but I sense that there may be more appetite for this location. There were but a handful at Oulton park, but I cant be specific on that.

Gary Lott has confirmed that Sytner will be attending with some ALPINA cars. I have suggested to him and to the BMW Car Club that it would be appropriate for them to be adjacent to the ALPINA display. He agrees, I shall waiting to see what response, if any from the BMWCCGB.

I did no tice on FB they announced it and straight away people were moaning about the location.

It also seems as this is spread over two days they are arranging parade laps and potential track times for different groups so be interesting to hear what they are planning.

I'll be there for both days.

Those people who are complaining its in the South need to remind me and themselves when it was last in the South? I joined the BMWCCGB in 2011 and it has never been in the South since then?

There will always be someone who has to travel, I went to Oulton Park last year, 4 hours each way. 4am start and not home till 10pm. I think its a great idea to move the show around to different tracks.

It was on a Saturday was it not at Oulton. I work full time like many others so a 6 hr drive on a Friday evening or getting up at 3 or 4am was not a consideration. Yes, the same will apply for those in the North in relation to Thruxton, but simple fact is that in 2024 its in Hampshire.

There will be a separate "ALPINA" display option when the tickets are announced so ensure you book the correct location to display. The Saturday I believe, subject to confirmation is for Concours so those entering can enjoy the whole of Sunday.
