2024 potential meet Sytner Maidenhead

Following a discussion with representatives of Sytner Maidenhead they propose to hold an ALPINA & M power meet in 2024. I understand they are the sponsor for the local football team and hope to utilise their facilities to accommodate such and event.

Sounds good, should be a well attended event. I spoke to Alex via e-mail when he noticed my registration and he said he hoped there would be event each year on the run up to 2026.

Alex as in Alex Morley or another Alex? Alex Morley is based at Nottingham so if it was him one suspects he is talking about Nottingham. The person I was speaking to is the parts manager of Sytner Maidenhead.

Anyhow it's a fair way off so we shall see if it materialises.

yes indeed sorry, that's me commenting before reading the full post. Yes your right Alex from Nottingham has said they want to do something each year on the run up to 2026. Sytner Maidenhead is not far form where I work so I pop on there from time to time to see what they have got.
They have had a white B8 for a while, keep asking if they will let me have it for a weekend test drive, but no luck so far.

Hey Norman, I did ask this and Maidenhead were willing too, but big brother Sytner stepped in and said I would need Media insurance covered at my own expense to be able to do this. So being that I am not a potential customer for a new Alpina looks like I'm not going to get to drive a new one anytime soon.
I've also spoken to a guy who does some YouTube videos and he also stopped working with Alpina as they told him he would have to cover separate insurance at his own cost and even told him after supplying a car for a weekend that he couldn't post any material because he wasn't actually insured correctly. So he lost 4 day's work and any potential earnings from the video.

I think that there is a subtle different between someone reviewing their opinion, if they are doing it for commercial purposes. Either in the capacity as an individual who may for example post it on social media and get monies from advertising revenues or as a business either sole trader, self employed or limited.

When I got mine from Sytner Nottingham I made it clear that I was not seeking any payment or payment in kind and that my article was for the sole and exclusive use of the BMWCCGB and that no permission was given for it to be shared or recreated in any other media.

The white B8 I am told that the offered to reduce it by 15K. I think it was 155K and now offered at 140K. Not bad if you have some loose change.

Its a bit Marmite the White B8, White, black decals, red leather. Awesome car difficult to look at (for me anyway)

Joe Achillies? It's a pity, really, as he was really pro-Alpina. I regularly search for Alpina YT videos but never really anything new.

Therefore, If person A, goes to Sytner and say hey I would like to buy xxx model ALPINA and I want a test drive. Then has a secreted camera and films it, who owns those intellectual property rights? Do they or Sytner? I guess that Sytner may have some disclaimer to be signed before allowing a test drive saying no filming etc.

Perhaps seek out people who have bought xxx model and get their view.

I did go up the Goodwood track in the B8 as a passenger, however unfortunately before 1200 the next day the appointed driver crashed it! Woops!
