Cadwell Thurs' Jun 30, 2022

Post by Grumpyjohn1957 » Sat Jun 11, 2022 2:22 pm

Anyone planning on attending the BMWCC track day at Cadwell this year?
It's a great day out, especially if dry and warm.
I'm intending to stretch Brunhilda's legs again, it'd be nice to say hello if any fellow register members there.

4 spaces still available so get the D5 round, see if it’s faster than 1.36 in escort?

Might be fun for a handful of laps but i'm not feeling the need to ruin a set of Michelins to confirm what i already know

Might be tempted if they have a squeal board lol

Last year, according to my mates timings from the stands, by the end of the afternoon I was consistently in the low 1.50s.
(He got car sick before lunch so sat out. - Think it was the ride in Adams car that did it  )
I totally & utterly destroyed my already heavily worn Pirellis thanks to lashings of understeer!
In the right hands I reckon a B5 could comfortably be in the mid / low 1.40s or even better. Its just pure grunt.
Alas I never perfected the lines and I'm not that good a driver anyway.

On new tyres this time, therefore parade lap pace only!

They are a heavy car to be throwing round a circuit like Cadwell, but i bet its nice to stretch its legs as you say!

I think that's about right for potential laptime around there, i seem to remember Karun Chandok putting the then new M4 round in low 1:40's for 5th Gear. A more Cadwell orientated racing driver could have done it quicker i suspect...
Sub 1:40 should be doable in the right hands, and certainly with the right tyres.

I'd advise learning the line and being as smooth as you can, building speed gradually and trying to maintain good corner speed without scrubbing the road tyres too hard. Bet its tempting though!
