2022 UK Meets- Did you attend ?

Post by Norrie » Sat Sep 17, 2022 10:41 am

One of the driest and hottest UK summers for many a year may have contributed to owners attending or not, events. The list of valid reasons why people cannot attend is long, but not exhaustive. In times of high inflation, fuel costs, mortgage interest rises ( remember late 80's when it was 15%?), hotel prices, family and work commitments or its simply "not your thing" a few of us managed to meet.

April 22

Around 80 plus cars were at Sytner Nottingham ALPINA for a one day meet, thanks to Gary Lott and his team for accommodating us. I shall be talking to Gary to see if this will be an opportunity in 2023.

May 22 a few ALPINAs met in France for the French Date show at Clastres, 3 from UK, 2 Luxembourg and 1 from Switzerland included.

June - Sytner incorporating ALPINA displayed at Goodwood Festival of Speed

7th Aug 22 BMW Car Club GB National Sommerfest Event at Donington we had 40 cars on the ALPINA section

26-28th August Silverstone Classic we do this separately from the BMWCCGB stand, they had 3 ALPINA cars, we had an average of 12 per day.

A few of us did the Glemham show near Woodbridge on the first Sunday of September and tomorrow 18th Sept will be the last of any major events, were at Beaulieu for Simply BMW in which we will display with the BMW Wessex region.

To those of you who attended any of the above thanks for your company, if you were unable but may like to in 2023 then events are posted here and on other social media. If you have paid your Gas and Electricity bills and can still fuel your cars we hope to see you.

Was good to meet you Norman at Glemham, even if it was brief. Will definitely try and get to more events in 2022.

I have been this year to Nottingham, Goodwood, Donnington and will go to Beaulieu tomorrow.

Plus several local meets and shows with my B3S.

Have been to many overseas Alpina meetings over the years :D

I go to as many as I can, even though time is catching up on me :boohoo

Really wanted to go to the German Alpina meeting again this year, but really can not justify an expenditure of circa £900 for 4 days away
