GAP insurance
GAP insurance
Hi all,
I'm about to become the proud owner of a D3 in about 97 hours (not that I'm counting ). I'm trying to cope with almost tripled insurance costs but finding the GAP which covers Alpina seems next to impossible. I have been offered one from Sytner for a ridiculous price of about £600 for 3 years which is out of question.
I have seen another topic discussing the same few months ago but nobody actually put the name of insurer. Please don't go into discussion weather it's useful or not, always depends if you actually need to use it and if I can find something cheaper which covers 4 years, I'll probably take it.
Anyway, all advices are welcome.

Think I'll keep quiet for another few days, almost pulled out after a "misunderstanding" with Sytner, but I really like the car. Fingers crossed, it's going to be black 2007 D3.
Thanks for the list, there were two companies I haven't tried before, but they also have "must be listed in Glass's guide" to be eligible, which Alpina is not
have to keep looking...

Thanks dubbers, that will be my latest option, although, I doubt I'll be ready to pay anything more then £200 for 3 years.
I'm not very happy with wording in the policy as they state that any modification will invalidate it with no examples what the modification really is. Have no intention to change anything but need the likes of car seat, phone holder and so on.

Well, I managed to find 4 years for £229 RTI up to £15k with ala.co.uk. I had to phone and they had to check with their underwriter and it's fine. Got the policy where the car is listed as Alpina D3 so it should be ok. Guys were really helpful. They advised that they will have to get an approval for each individual car in advance if it's not listed in Glass's guide.
For moderators, I know that there is a section sponsor for this so please let me know if you want link removed. As much as I'm aware AF doesn't offer gap insurance.

2007 D3 #323 - sold
Update - ALA have since changed underwriters and now definitely won't provide gap insurance for an Alpina. Most of the online brokers use the same underwriter - Ageas Insurance Ltd, so suspect it will be the same for all of them though might try contacting Ageas directly. Shame - got a good quote based on cost of car!
