Insurance - 32 Year Old (Ex M Car)

Post by StuartK » Sun May 10, 2020 12:47 pm

Hi guys,

Had M cars for years... Currently an M4.

Looking to go more economical so been looking at F** D3.

Had a shock coming to insurance it’s significantly more than the M4.

I am 32 with a midlands postcode (WS).
3 points SP30
1 Fault accident in 2018

Is there anyone else round my age?

I am getting Tesco at £1350 but most others are £2k plus without a box!

Hi,

Recommend trying a specilaist like A-Plan. I used Thatcham branch a bit more bespoke service unlike the online comparison sites that will only have a certain amount of data to work with. Goodluck! Prices can seem quite extreme.

I recommend you try A Plan as well. However, you need to examine closely exactly what you are getting in your Tesco quote? For example Tesco is not an Insurer, so see who their policy is underwritten by and contact them directly thus removing the Tesco commission.

Insurance premiums work on a host of moving factors, its like a fund, so many claims paid out the fund goes down and the new premiums go up.

Factors such as post code, number of thefts in that area, type of vehicle, your occupation, are you using it for commuting or in conjunction for your work, number of miles per year, declared value, motoring offences, age, excess, legal cover, additional write of premium, courtesy car, the list in not exhaustive.

Is it garaged, any mods, has it got a tracker and so on and so forth.

Therefore comparing I got X from this and Y from that is not a science unless offering is exactly and precisely the same from both.
